It doesn't seem like APC has been updated to coincide with the php 5.4 release (I wish they would have included APC in PHP core like originally planned).
I can't seem to find any definitive answer to whether current APC works with php 5.4+. I managed to find Ubuntu packages for php 5.4, but php-apc packages won't install.

I downloaded Android Studio and attempted to launch the program.
This is running on Windows 7 64-bit with Java 1.7. During the installation my Java 1.7 is detected, and the rest of the installation goes through just fine. However, when attempting to launch the application from the desktop icon, nothing happens. Looking at the task manager, a new process from the CMD is loaded. This is because it's attempting to run the batch file studio.bat.
When I execute via CMD, I get the following error:
ERROR: cannot start Android Studio. No JDK found. Please validate
either ANDROID_STUDIO_JDK, or JDK_HOME or JAVA_HOME points to valid
JDK installation. ECHO is off. Press any key to continue . . .
I've attempted to open the idea properties file to see if there was something I could configure for this ANDROID_STUDIO_JDK or something like that. However, I found nothing. I hope some of you can let me know if you were able to install this or if you are having problems as well.

A similar question was asked here, but it was specific to .NET 3.5. Specifically, I'm looking for the following:
- What is the correct way to determine which .NET Framework versions and service packs are installed?
- Is there a list of registry keys that can be used?
- Are there any dependencies between Framework versions?

I like to be sure that everything will work just by copying the contents of the Java folder and setting the environment variables.
I usually run the installer in a virtual machine, zip the \java folder contents, go back to a snapshot of the virtual machine, and then unzip the compressed file.
I couldn't find a place where the latest JRE / JDK is available as a zip file...

Alternately, is it safe to assume that exe installer from sun just will just unzip the whole thing, without messing around with the registry, environment variables, etc...?

Recently discovered that even while logged into my personal laptop as Admin, Visual Studio does not run in admin mode and you need to explicitly use Run As Admin
Is there a way to Make it run as Admin by default other than creating a shortcut etc. ?

to install java I have always used the classic way from the terminal.
I would like to install java manually.
I placed the folder of the JDK on the desk and I set environment variables (PATH, CLASSPATH and JAVA_HOME).
From the terminal, if I type java -version I get printed

java version "1.7.0_21"

But when I try to install eclipse or netbeans, the system warns by saying that there is no java installed on the machine.
What is missing to compleatare manual installation?

I've had a serious issue with my Visual Studio 2008 setup. I receive the ever-so-useful error 'A problem has been encountered while loading the setup components. Canceling setup.' whenever I try to uninstall, reinstall or repair Visual Studio 2008 (team system version). If I can't resolve this issue I have no choice but to completely wipe my computer and start again which will take all day long! I've recently received very strange errors when trying to build projects regarding components running out of memory (despite having ~2gb physical memory free at the time) which has rendered my current VS install useless.
Note I installed VS2005 shell version using the vs_setup.msi file in the SQL Server folder after I had installed VS2008, in order to gain access to the SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services designer in Business Intelligence Development Studio (this is inexplicably unavailable in VS2008).
Does anyone have any solutions to this problem?
P.S.: I know this isn't directly related to programming, however I feel this is appropriate to SO as it is directly related to my ability to program at all!
Note: A colleague found a solution to this problem, hopefully this should help others with this problem.

After following a lot of help found around the web including building and installing libxml2 and libxslt using brew and building libiconv from the sources (as described in "Installing Nokogiri"), the error remains the same.
When trying to run the installation for Nokogiri, libxml2 and libxslt seem to be found fine, but not libiconv.
Anyone with a better knowledge of these things know how to get Nokogiri installed?

I'm trying to build some code on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS that uses OpenSSL 1.0.0. When I run make, it invokes g++ with the "-lssl" option. The source includes:

#include <openssl/evp.h>
#include <openssl/pem.h>
#include <openssl/rsa.h>
I ran:
$ sudo apt-get install openssl

openssl is already the newest version.

But I guess the openssl package doesn't include the library. I get these errors on make:

How do I install the OpenSSL C++ library on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS?
I did a man g++ and (under "Options for Linking") for the -l option it states: " The linker searches a standard list of directories for the library..." and "The directories searched include several standard system directories..." What are those standard system directories?
Update: The answer is sudo apt-get install libssl-dev. How could I have figured that out for myself (other than asking this question here)? Can I somehow tell apt-get to list all packages, and grep for ssl? Or do I need to know the "lib*-dev" naming convention?

I am trying to setup my machine with pecl_http and memcache and in both cases, I get similar errors. This is on MAC OS X 10.7.3 (lion) and I also have XCODE installed on it. I also installed Zend Server community edition before running these commands and have CFLAGS='-arch i386 -arch x86_64' environment variables set. So please help with what I need to do
