How can I see the total length of all the videos in a YouTube playlist?

If I recall correctly, there used to be a feature of YouTube which showed the total length of all the videos in a playlist, combined. This was very useful as it enabled you to see the length of a game play-through, etc. A Google search suggests this feature has been removed and no immediate solution presents itself, but is there a way to view the total length without having to add it up manually?

Advertisements

Is it possible to create a "smart playlist" (YouTube Mix) from a set of keywords (artists names)?

Is it possible to create a "smart" (or "automatic", or "mix") playlist on YouTube from a set of keywords?

For instance, I want to play a playlist of automatically selected videos matching the keywords "Pearl Jam", "The Doors" and "Pixies".

Does watching a video ad in a playlist get the creator any money?

If I watch a YouTube video in a playlist, it doesn't count as a view. I want to know if watching ads on playlist videos gets the creator any money. Does watching the full ad get them more money than skipping the ad?

How do I subscribe to a YouTube playlist?

Let's say there's a channel that churns out a lot of content, but I am only interested in a subset of it. That content cannot be made into a show, as per some YouTube guideline or whatever, but the channel owner helpfully compiles it into a playlist.

I know it's possible to subscribe to a show, but what about a playlist?

(I actually remember doing so about 3 design iterations back, but I can't find it now.)

URL or way to load and updated "My mix" from YouTube. Or load a list playing from Spotify or Google Play Music

Is there a way to load a URL (or use a site to redirect to such site) where there is the actual "My Mix" from YouTube or starting with the random order of songs from either spotify or Play Music?

I'm making an application that when select the "Play Music" option it open a fixed YouTube playlist which (like YouTube always does) start playing when it opens. I want to do that but with a dynamic playlist, and my mix would be the perfect playlist.

Or the play music or spotify ones. Does are also good.

Anyone knows of suck a way?

How to remove a video from the currently playing playlist?

There used to be a "Remove from playlist" link to remove any video from the currently playing playlist, as in this screenshot:

However this link seems to be gone now. Is there any other way to remove a video from a playlist?

I'm on Firefox/Linux.

Is there a way to exclude YouTube videos from specific band?

I'm wondering is there a way to filter YouTube videos from the band that I don't want to see?

I know how to exclude channel, YouTube is giving option for that, but is there a way to exclude whole music from one band on YouTube?

Moving a partial playlist to another playlist

Do not want to move the whole playlist. I do know how to move videos from one playlist to another by 1 at a time. I do not want to move the whole playlist only a fraction of the total. 250 videos are currently in it I would like to move15-18% ~. I am stunned how limiting the options are for something this little. Pretty minimalistic UI. Any help would be wonderful. Again not trying to move the whole list to combine with another. I hve that covered.

Where can I access playlists that I saved but are not my own creation

I have a habit of making large todo lists, admittedly too large, loads of stuff just gets deleted. Youtube could be very good for this since there are a lot of pre-existing playlists that fit my needs (learning blender / java exceptions / whatever). Making a playlist of my own just seems too much of a hassle when perfectly good playlists are already out there.

My question is: After I save them, where do they go ? They are definitely not in my playlists "directory", and I see no "saved playlists" anywhere.

I admit: I know they already appear on the drop down sidebar thingy, but that's such a horrible implementation that it hurts my brain. There simply has to be something else also!

EDIT I can't see the created playlists button:

The created playlists thing is just plain text.

How do I get youtube playlist id from video ID?

Suppose you have YouTube's video ID: ZQPQAXIQkvw and you want to get playlist ID that contains this video: PL81F0A95A935CD9A3. How do I do it easily and reliably and hopefully automateably as in using curl

Current unreliable manual way:

  1. Go to the video page: https://youtube.com/watch?v=ZQPQAXIQkvw
  2. Copy the name of video: "All For Community - French Subtitles"
  3. Click on video's uploading user (in this case it's "Community Foundations of Canada"): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCZbPV-dOqinRhiTy2PtxPg
  4. Go to playlists page, switch it to verboser form: https://www.youtube.com/user/cfcteam/playlists?sort=lad&view=1&flow=list
  5. Scroll down, "Load more", scroll down, "Load more" until the whole page visible (in this case not needed);
  6. Use in-browser search for the movie name (or its parts) "All For Community - French Subtitles" and hope it finds something;
  7. Playlist is found: "Playlist Sample #1" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQPQAXIQkvw&list=PL81F0A95A935CD9A3

Is there some simpler and more reliable method? Maybe there's publicitly available API for this?

Several inquiries about the blocking of an album on YouTube

Most album "What If It All Means Something" by Chantal Kreviazuk is blocked on YouTube in Australia. But no, the problem does not end here. Most of the videos on this auto-generated playlist are blocked in Australia. But I can find the same songs in other videos e.g the song "Flying Home", which was blocked in the playlist. I am able to find all the tracks in the album unblocked, except for "What If It All Means Something" (which is, ironically, the title of the album) and "Julia". I was able to find them on YouTube through a US VPN.

So here are my questions:

  1. Why is the album blocked in Australia?
  2. Why was most of that playlist blocked when I could still find the songs elsewhere on YouTube?
  3. Why are two of the songs totally blocked in this country, as opposed to partially blocked?
  4. I could not find any reference to this album on iTunes Store in Australia, is this related?

How to get back at least titles of YouTube videos that were deleted or became private

I have playlists on Youtube where I group interesting videos, mostly music.

However I've noticed that many YT videos have a rather short lifespan. After several weeks they are either deleted, made private, or the owner's account is suspended and thus the videos are removed.

For the videos that were deleted I can sometimes see a part of the title. But for videos made private I can see nothing.

Is there a tool available somewhere that can automatically track my playlists, do the snapshots so I can at least recover the title when the video is removed? (ideally it should run in the web, without the need for me to install anything).

I could probably write a script for doing this using YouTube API, but then issue is I'd need to schedule the fetches myself. Maybe someone already did some webapp for this?

YouTube save position

Is there a way to autosave positions of YouTube videos? Preferably automatically and without plugins.

This worked a month ago without a plugin, now it does not work anymore (for me).

Ubuntu Linux and Chromium browser.
