I have setup email for my custom domain using Windows Live Domains. I then upgraded from the Hotmail interface to the new Outlook.com interface.
I cannot seem to find the POP/IMAP settings to connect to in the Settings Sections of the new Outlook.com interface. The only instructions I could find mentioned were using the Hotmail interface, and the corresponding section does not exist in the Outlook.com redesigned settings.

I have been using the calendar in Windows Live Mail for months now. When I logged on yesterday, all of the data and appointments I have been inputting for months is gone. The calendar is completely blank.
I have performed a system restore with no luck. I have run in safe mode with no luck. I have run a check disk in DOS with no luck. Any other ideas on what I can do to find my calendar info? Could the file be corrupt? I rely on this calendar and all of my info is gone, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

I was downloading my mail from Network Solutions' server via POP on Windows Live Mail. The download failed halfway through, so I deleted the emails via Windows Live Mail. When I went back to the browser to the Network Solutions webmail interface, all my emails in the inbox were gone!
I thought POP doesn't sync the mail client with the server- how is it possible that all my mail is gone?

I have some e-mails accounts sets to POP and now we have the IMAP service, so we would like to change to IMAP because of the benefits that it comes with it.
But I'm trying to do that in Outlook (2007) and Windows Live Mail, but it seems I can't change the settings of the account, which kind of service I would like POP or IMAP specifically, just if I create a new account is possible, but I don't want to do that, is that correct ?
The only way to change the POP to IMAP is creating a new account in both programs ?
Any idea how can I do that ?

I'm trying the Window Live Mail client. Simple and beautiful. However I'm used to an IMAP client that only downloads headers. Windows Live Mail automatically creates a list of tasks to download all messages from all directories when closing the client. Is it possible to avoid this?
It's good because I can work offline and have a backup, but it takes extremely long to perform. With a hundred thousand emails, this task can take a whole day to perform. What should I look for in the settings?

I am using Windows Live Mail to access my 6 mail accounts including hotmail and gmail. Currently I am using windows vista but planning a clean install of Windows 7. Is there any way I can backup the downloaded mails on windows vista and retrieve it again on windows 7. I do not want live mail to download all mails again (its more than 3GB).

I'm having a problem with Windows Live Mail not displaying properly when I use Remote Desktop to connect to my home PC. The problem only happens if someone is also logged into the machine locally. Parts of the Windows Live Messenger window will display just fine (like the overhead tool bars and email preview window), but other window panes like the folder list and email list do not render properly.
For example, if you have a Word document open and you switch back to Windows Live Messenger, you will still see the Word document "bleed" through in the window panes that do not repaint. Windows Live Messenger is still functional and you can click on emails in the email list, but you have to guess where to click since the window pane did not paint properly.
Normally Windows 7 does not support concurrent sessions like this, but it's not hard to enable that feature. I've never had a display problem with any other application when using concurrent sessions.
The display issue goes away as soon as the local user logs out or presses Windows-L to lock their session.

I recently rebuilt my dad's computer, from Windows Vista to Windows 7. I have everything back now, except for the contacts in Windows Live Mail. How do I restore these from backup? I had his whole user directory C:\Users\<user>\
being backed up to a NAS. So I located the contacts.edb
file from the backup, located at
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts\<guid>\DBStore\contacts.edb
So I copied that file (along with the others stored there contacts.pat, dbstore.ini, edb.chk
) to where I found contacts.edb
after installing the latest version of Windows Live Mail 2011:
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Contacts\Default\15.4\DBStore
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Contacts\Default\15.4\DBStore\Backup\new
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Contacts\Default\DBStore
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Contacts\Default\W4CR1\DBStore
But this does not seem to have restored the contacts. When I open WLM and go to Contacts
it tells me there are 0 contacts. How can I restore the old contacts?? Of course I did look first for a Windows Live Contacts
folder to restore them into, but there is no such folder under the new WLM apparently.
Failing this, is there some way to extract the contacts from the EDB file, into a format which can be imported into WLM (csv, wab, .contact
)?

Whenever I click on a mailto link, my computer gets whacko and starts a recurrent series of calls that open more and more instances of iexplorer. I need to manually enter the task manager and kill the process tree. Then the new iexplorer instances stop appearing.
I'm using FireFox to browse and Windows Live Mail for e-mail on Windows 7. I have Outlook 2013 installed but don't use it (haven't even configured it).
Don't know when the misbehavior started or what I could've done right before. Installed all updates. Reinstalled the obvious things.
How do I stop it?
What can be causing it?

When I get new mail and go to the "unread email" quick view I always see two version of the email, even though I definitely have only one such version in the inbox itself. Further, viewing the message via inbox usually marks only one of these copies as read, or sometimes none at all.
I have no custom filters defined that could cause duplication.
Any idea what's going on?
PS This is the new version (2011).

I have tried doing the steps here: http://www.timeatlas.com/email/general/create_image_signatures_in_windows_mail_or_live_mail
However I don't like having to uncheck the "Block images"
box in the Security
tab in Safety Options
, because I believe this is weakening the security of the email client.
Is there way to have images in email signatures in Windows Live Mail
without having to weaken the security?
Note, I have tried embedding an image into html
using Base64
encoding but Windows Live Mail
declares that the signature is "too large" and truncates the signature to remove the image.

Internet Explorer 9 in Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit has the items Send Page by email and Send link by email grayed out. The default email client is Windows Live Mail 2011. I have used the "Set Default" dialogs to do that. Everything else recognizes Windows Live Mail 2011 as the default, including Firefox 4. I have duplicated this problem on two computers here. I have changed the default email program to Mozilla Thunderbird on one of the computers, and IE9 won't let me Send Page by email or Send link by email there, either.
Has anyone gotten this to work? Firefox is my default browser, but sometimes I have to use IE9.

Today I received an email from Ebay which I was reading in my Windows Live environement.
I noticed a small green icon before the message, and at the top of the reading pane.
The popup of the green batch says 'This message is from a trusted sender. To help protect you from phishing scams, we double-checked that it's safe'.
Does anybody knows how this system works ? Why does Live displays this icon ? Do we need to add some headers to our mails or let our server be known as a non-spam trusted mail server ?
We are sending mails to hundreds of named customers and would like to be sure that these mails are not listed as spams.
Thanks in advance.

If I understand PGP correctly, I can digitally sign my email with my private key, which will prove they are from me, right?
I created my public and private key on my server, but I can't work out how to set up digital signing with Windows Live Mail. Just to be clear, I'm talking about my own domain email account and not a hotmail account.
Any ideas?
