MySQL instance lost when upgrading to Windows 10

I had a running instance of MySQL 5.6 in my Windows 8.1. After upgrading to Windows 10, such instance is gone, including the Windows service for it.

Server data files are however intact. What would be the best way to recover or re-create the exact same instance (or the most similar) back in Windows 10?

$Windows.~WS folder in C:\ drive after Windows 10 Installation, Upgrade or Media Creation?

I have a hidden folder on my C:\ drive called $Windows.~WS that's 3 GB large after my Windows 10 upgrade.

Disk clean and CCleaner even with system files removal didn't remove it, so I'm wondering if it's safe to manually SHIFT+DEL it?

No internet connection after upgrade to Windows 10

I've just upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1, but after upgrading I can't connect to the internet. I select my wifi network and click "Connect". Even though it says it's connected I cannot open any page and the troubleshoot helper says that I'm not connected to any network.

Has anyone experienced this?

CD/DVD not working after upgrade to Windows 10

After Windows 10 was upgraded, CD/DVD (TSSTcorp CDDVDW SU-208DB) stopped working.

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

I was trying to uninstall and reinstall, but no success. Any hints?

How to install Windows 10 upgrade on VirtualBox when Graphics Adapter does not support it?

I'm running Mac OSX Yosemite v10.10.5 and Oracle Virtual Box v4.3.30 (reported as being the latest version by Check for Updates... in the application) and have a Windows 7 Ultimate running virtually on this machine. I would like to upgrade to Windows 10, however, the upgrade check complains:

This PC can't run Windows 10
It doesn't meet the system requirements.

Here's why Windows 10 can't be installed on this PC.

VirtualBox Graphics Adapter
The display manufacturer hasn't made your display compatible with Windows 10.
Check with the manufacturer for support.

Do I just need an updated version of GuestBox (also v4.3.30) additions? Do I need to wait for Oracle to fix their graphics driver, or is there a workaround to run Windows 10 upgrade today?

Update: I upgraded to VirtualBox v5.0.4 and installed the corresponding Guest Additions on the Windows machine, as well as the extensions suggested by Ramhound, although I'm not certain that was needed, are those for a Mac VM or for the host? After reboot, of the VM, I get the same error that Windows 10 cannot be installed due to the graphics driver being unsupported. Do I need to force the Windows machine to recheck the drivers somehow?

Update: Using the the Windows Media Creation Tool gave the error:

You can't install Windows 10 because your processor doesn't support NX.

I also had to increase the partition size to allow the install to attempt by first renaming it to drop the character — from the vid filename to avoid errors resizing and then resized using the command:

VBoxManage modifyhd "/Users/xxx/VBox VMs/Windows/Windows 7.vdi" --resize 32000

Is it possible to completely opt of out the free Windows 10 upgrade? as it doesnt seem so

I am running Windows 8.1 Single Language for about a year now and although Windows 10 is due to release tomorrow, I've decided to put things on hold for a while and stick to Windows 8.1.

So I canceled my reservation for Windows 10 through the "Get Windows 10" app but something unusual happened today. I've noticed some network activity that consumed quite a bit of bandwidth. I narrowed it down to a Windows Update which has failed to install. Turns out it was named "Upgrade to Windows 10 Home Single Language". Here is a screenshot from the reliability monitor:

This download consumed almost 2.5GB before it failed to install. But now it has started downloading again. What do i do?

How to eliminate SpyBot pop-up during boot "Run Post-Windows 10 Upgrade Re-Installer"

I used SpyBot on my Win7 desktop. Did the Windows 10 Upgrade. After the upgrade I uninstalled SpyBot using the Uninstall option in Control Panel->Programs. Now each time I boot the PC I get a pop-up dialog box asking to run the "SpyBot Post-Windows 10 Upgrade Re-Installer" which I decline by it asks every time I boot.

So I went ahead and had it install the newer SpyBot in order to eliminate then message. Then went into Control Panel->Programs and did the uninstall. Unfortunately the nag message to "reinstall" has resumed its annoying appearance.

Thanks for any suggestions. I've liked SpyBot in the past, but this is very poor behavior from this program/vendor.

Windows 10 64-bit requirements: Does my CPU support CMPXCHG16b, PrefetchW and LAHF/SAHF?

I'm currently trying to find out whether or not it would be a good idea to update my slightly dated notebook (Windows 7, 64-bit) to Windows 10. The problem is that Microsoft states in their Windows 10 specifications that to use the 64-bit version of Windows 10, a processor which supports CMPXCHG16b, PrefetchW and LAHF/SAHF is needed. I know that my processor is 64-bit (Intel Core i5-2430M @ 2.40 GHz) but I don't know how to find out whether it supports CMPXCHG16b, PrefetchW and LAHF/SAHF, and I have no idea what these mean.

I tried using Google and got no results that made sense to me, only some comparison of my i5 and a similar AMD processor. I also checked Intel's ARK website. If somebody could point me to where I can get more info I would be really grateful.

Can I upgrade to Windows 10 with BitLocker Enabled?

I am currently running Windows 8.1 Pro, with BitLocker enabled (the hardware has no TPM, though).

I am curious as to whether I will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 when it is rolled out without having to disable BitLocker/decrypt the hard drive.

Windows Updates obviously work fine with BitLocker, but as I have not beta tested Windows 10 I have no idea whether I will need to decrypt the drive before upgrading the system to Windows 10 or not.

Windows 10 update stuck at 0%

I just upgraded from 8 to 8.1 and immediately tried upgrading to windows 10. I got this same error so I killed the process and retried and restarted my computer a few times.

I turned off automatic updates thinking maybe I was getting the issue where it shows 0% because an automatic update is already in progress. Still nothing. It's just sitting there.

*side note - it won't let me close it unless i end process from task manager.

Can I install the free Windows 7/8 -> 10 upgrade on a new empty drive?

With the new Windows 10 coming out soon as a free upgrade, I'd like to know if and how I can install the upgrade on a new HDD. I assume the files needed for Windows 10 are only for upgrading an installed copy of Windows 7 or 8 and not a standalone installer to use on an empty hard drive. Or is this assumption wrong?

I have some issues booting (an older non-working version appears in the list of OS's to choose from) and I'd like to replace my current SSD, which is too small, with a new larger capacity one, while keeping my other drives intact. The old SSD will then be removed.

If more information is needed, please let me know.

Windows 10 Setup has failed to validate the product key

I am trying to run the upgrade from my Windows 8.1 Pro computer to Windows 10. It keeps telling me:

Setup has failed to validate the product key

This has happened when clicking "Upgrade" inside the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool and has also happened when running the installer from a flash drive. However, that flash drive did successfully install Windows 10 on another computer.

How can I fix this?

This computer is a Lenovo ThinkPad T530 which originally shipped with Windows 8 (basic), was upgraded to Windows 8 Pro, and then to Windows 8.1 Pro. When I run NirSoft's product key retrieval tool, it shows the original Windows 8 key stored by Lenovo in the BIOS as well as the Windows 8 Pro Upgrade key. Could it be that the upgrader has "decided" that these keys are not eligible for upgrade?
