Do Twitter accounts have a never-changing identifier?

On Facebook, you are identified by a number like 7435423976 that will never change, even after changing your name or your URL shortcut.

Does Twitter have the same never-changing identifier?

Twitter users have a name (for instance "JohnDoe4ever"), but they can change it, so it is not a good identifier. Is there a hidden, better one?

Is there a Wordpress plugin that will tweet when a scheduled post is posted? [closed]

I know there are tons of Twitter/Wordpress plugins out there, but so far I have not been able to get one to do what I need.

I have lots of scheduled posts. When a scheduled post goes like, I would like a Tweet to go out announcing it. There seem to be lots of plugins that will tweet when you publish a post, but so far none of the ones I have tried will do it on a scheduled post. Right now, I am using Twitter Publisher, which does not do what I want.

Anyone using something that works?

If Twitter apps use OAuth why would they ask for my password?

I signed up to TweetDeck, and following the steps it appears that I issued it an OAuth token.

Then I installed it (0.35.1, Linux), signed in with my TweetDeck account and tried to add my Twitter account. It then asks me for my Twitter Password.

Why would it need my password if it uses OAuth?

I received an email from Twitter a while after authorising the OAuth token. It suggests this is common to apps in general and not just TweetDeck:

• OAuth is a technology that enables applications to access Twitter on your behalf with your approval without asking you directly for your password.
• Desktop and mobile applications may still ask for your password once, but after that request, they are required to use OAuth in order to access your timeline or allow you to tweet.

I still don't understand why they would need my password if I've already authorised an OAuth token directly with Twitter via the web.

The email also says:

Applications are no longer allowed to store your password.

How they could be prevented from storing it? Revealing a password "once" is revealing it forever.

Why do I need to allow Dropbox to integrate with Twitter if all it’s asking me to do is follow?

On this Dropbox web page, it says that I can get some free Dropbox space if I follow Dropbox on Twitter. (Notice this is a separate item from Connect your Twitter Account which is listed above that.)

When I click on the link that says “Follow Dropbox on Twitter,” it asks me to authorize a whole bunch of Twitter integration (much more than just following). See image:

Is there any way to get this free bonus without all of this full integration with Twitter? I did start to follow Twitter on my account but obviously there is nothing that tells Dropbox that this is my Dropbox account.

Can I construct a Twitter tweet URL that makes sure I'm in the right screen name?

I can construct a URL that will post a Tweet (but ask for confirmation) with pre-written text:

https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=My%20awesome%20message.

If I am not logged in, the web page this generates include a username/password form.

However I have 2 Twitter accounts (one for work, one for personal use). I want the URL to specify that the message is to go out via my work account.

Is there a field I can add that will require the message to be posted by a particular screen name? i.e. either by giving an error if I'm not logged into that account or ask for the password of the desired screen name and switch to the account.

Feed my Google+ account from Twitter

Looking for a way to have Google+ automatically add my tweets to my Google+ timeline.

Currently, I'm setup so that:

Google Reader, Pandora Likes, Ping Likes feed into -> Twitter

And Twitter feeds into -> Facebook

So If I have something to say, I can plaster it on twitter, and it gets CC'd to my Facebook Status as well.

Looking for some way to do the same thing with Google+ ... Ideally I only want to put statuses into one social network.

How to best minimize the work of maintaining a Twitter and Facebook Wall,

What's the upside and downside to these two options:

• Entering data into Facebook Wall having it post to Twitter. (Facebook app)

• Entering data into Twitter and having it post to Facebook. (RSS Feed)

Am I missing a better option? I see a lot of overlap between these two options, and would rather not maintain both unless there is a compelling reason.

How to get email / SMS notifications for tweets for a specific user that match certain words?

I know that Twitter already allow mobile notifications for new tweets from a specific user, but how can I go further and only get SMS (or email) notifications for new tweets from a specific that also match certain words? I know IFTTT doesn't do this, but are there any other ways I can use to do this?

Why does Twitter say I've got tweets, but then pull the football away?

My site (listed on my user's page) shows this on my twitter widget when I hover: "This page has been shared 15 times. View these tweets"

This actually makes sense, because I have mentioned it in about that many tweets. However, when I click the link to view those tweets, though, the page navigated to says, "Results for [my site]: No Tweet results for [my site].

Does it hide self-tweets? Or what is the issue here?

Tracking other accounts on Twitter

I'd like to track multiple accounts and keywords on Twitter and receive all @ posts regarding the accounts in one feed and all # posts regarding the keywords in another. Then I'd like to be able to monitor if I engage with users that mentioned these accounts or keywords by tagging certain Tweets and monitoring if I replied to them.

From there, ideally, I'd be able to analyze the results of my Tweets to them to see how effective they are across the different keywords, accounts, etc. and whether or not people click the links I post.

I've been using TweetDeck but I can't find out how to put all the account feeds or hashtags in one column, nor does it provide any analytics.

How can I better use TweetDeck to accomplish this?

IFTTT Twitter DM recipe not always firing

I have several IFTTT recipes that are supposed to send a DM - every time I add or read something in Pocket for instance.

I'm finding that the recipe fires every time but the DM doesn't always get created in Twitter. Is IFTTT or Twitter limiting the number of DMs that can be created in a short space of time? I know there is a 250 DM limit per day, but I'm not getting near this.

I know about the 15 minute window, but I would expect that perhaps the tweets get sent in bulk every 15 minutes. If I refresh the IFTTT web interface it is saying that the recipe is being triggered each time as expected. Am I misunderstanding how IFTTT works?

Am I to trust my user/password to some apps that claim to be integrated with Twitter?

I have seen a couple of webapps that say something along the lines:

"Use your twitter account-> User ___ password __"

And then they take you to some other page.

After all this phishing warnings and all, why should I trust in one of those apps?
