I've just installed Netbeans on my Surface Pro and got everything set up (larger font sizes ftw) but was wondering if there's any way to scroll through the text editor using the touch screen? At the moment, swiping up or down just selects the text/code. I've tried Googling and all sorts of keyboard/touch combinations and nothing works.

In many occasions you have to move the mouse over an area of the screen or an element in an interface without clicking on it.
is there a way to achieve this?
I use windows 8.1 on a Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 with a touchscreen. I already managed to remap the windows key to a right mouse button with AutoHotkey, but that's another question.
Maybe it would be possible to catch a gesture or something like that, that would disable the clicking of the mouse when you move the finger over the touchscreen?

Is it possible to have two monitors in Windows 7, one touch screen and the other not? Obviously you would need a mouse to interact with the non-touch screen, but could you still use the touch features on the screen that supports them?

I run Windows Embedded Standard 7 with a multi touch screen (running on the UPDD driver 4.01.10). The system is running an application in kiosk mode with no need for any other input device.
The On Screen Keyboard is disabled in the Ease of Access center (and is not shown initially), but whenever a user touches the screen, a kind of "On Screen Keyboard Quickstart Button" appears at the left side of the screen, looking like this:

The user can use this to slide in the On Screen Keyboard. Is there a way to disable that?

Is it possible to select (and copy after that of course) any text on web page using fingers and touchscreen?
I found only one opportunity - double tap selects single word under tap point. But I need to select more that one word!
IE10 works nice with selection, but Chrome do not? Google had missed that point?

I have been looking for information about using a second monitor, and thought of using a touchscreen.
Will a touchscreen monitor work in a dual setup if it is not the main monitor? I haven't found any information on this; I've only found information about the touchscreen being the main monitor. That is, except at this SU question (snippet below):
If you mean do the touch screen features still work on the other machine, the answer is yes.
Past that, you can even see some of the touch screen features on a non touch screen monitor (just not the multi touch features!) For example, on the taskbar, click (without releasing) on any icon and then drag the mouse up, and you will see that it does the same as using your finger and dragging up.
I have a HP 2510 for the main monitor. I'm thinking of adding a HP 2310ti (the touchscreen) as the secondary. My graphics card is a geforce gtx 295. I'm running Windows 7 Professional.

I'm getting very annoyed at the way Windows behaves differently depending on whether or not it thinks you have a touch screen.
Using the mouse is very clunky and I would like to get the mouse to imitate touch but I cannot find a setting or options to get Windows to behave the way I want it to. what I mean by this is that when you hold down the left mouse button (in a default setup) and move the mouse it should act as if you were touching the screen with a single fingertip.
Example 1: On a touch screen I can swipe from right to left to get the charms to appear, with a mouse I have to bash it down to the bottom corner and wait for the charms to appear. The actions should be the same but they are not.
Example 2: On a touch screen I can swipe the All Apps screen to move left/right. with a mouse I have to click in the scrollbar on the bottom of the screen.
Counter Example 3: Perversely the lock screen works exactly how I'd expect it to. I can swipe with a touch screen and swipe with a mouse.
It's especially annoying on the multi monitor and multi-PC systems I have been using for the last five years.
So is there a way to force Windows 8 to accept mouse input as if it were touch input?
Edit: In case it's a specific mouse/laptop issue I'm using an HP Probook 4540s with a budget Microsoft wired mouse
Update: Please do not suggest keyboard alternatives. I already know what they are. I'm trying to find a way to do things without using the keyboard.

- My problem + others problem with this is that, when i touch-over (mouse-over) the touchscreen, the mouse cursor do not follow my (finger/touch) movement. On press the cursor press (click) in the wrong location.
My goal is to fix it, so that the press location is exact.

Something I've been wondering about for a while... Why are there no (capacitive) matte touchscreens in laptops or mobile devices?
For a while, matte screens have been rare, presumely because glossy screens look better in the showroom, tend to have darker blacks and brighter colors, and were more demanded by consumers. Still, you could get matte screens as monitors and in laptops, especially for "business" users who appreciate that they have much less irritating reflections.
Now with touchscreens, I've failed to find a single device that has a matte display. Why is that so?
I'd love to see an authoritative answer from an engineer, or a statement from a manufacturer's website that states why these are not (or cannot be) produced. The gritty technical (legal, marketing) reasons, not just speculation.
I've already read enough speculation, and I'll try to list a few things that I believe can be debunked:
"There is not sufficient demand for matte screens" - There was presumely more demand for glossy displays in the years past as well, but you could still buy matte displays as niche producs. I find it hard to believe that professional users wouldn't be interested in matte touchscreens in notebooks.
"Fingerprints stick more on matte screens, they get too dirty" - There were matte (resitive) touchscreens long before there were ones with glossy displays, think about GPSes in cars, or industrial control panels. Fingerprints were never a big problem, you could clean them almost as well as glossy displays. In fact, fingerprints are a bigger problem on glossy displays. Remeber a few years back when people were worried about fingerprints on the new iPhone or on back then popular piano lacquer devices, and manufacturers had to point out that they were using novel "oleophobic" coatings?
"A matte coating would interfere with the touch sensors, dim the display." Or: "You can always add a matte protector on top of the glossy screen." - The interference argument is moot since there are aftermarket protectors that work. But the protectors are inferior to a real matte display. I'm also not talking about a matte coating applied to glass (which looks more like a frosting). The matte displays I'm thinking about are more like what the TFT is beneath the glass. All the matte displays I used did not have glass on the outside, but some kind of transparent plastic sheet. It is slightly rough, but much smoother than the "matte screen protectors" you can buy. The matte effect is not an additional coating, but the absense of a glossy coating or a glass sheet.

One of the primary reasons I would get an Asus S400CA-DH51T or the Lenovo S230U would be to write on the Microsoft OneNote application to take notes during class. However, I've only seen people press with their fingers on the screen.
Do those new screens accurately capture handwriting/drawing with a stylus?

I love SublimeText 3, but the only thing stopping me from buying a licence is the lack of decent touch(pad) support. I often work on the road, and some decent swipe/scroll support on touch and touchpad would be nice. Am I missing something in the settings, or is this simply not implemented in ST3?

I'm trying to find a way to enable touch style input in Windows 8. Specifically, I want to have the touch friendly user interface.
I'm looking at doing an experiment where I use a Wiimote for input, and I think the touch friendly user interface would make the experience much smoother.
I looked in my Control Panel, but I don't have the Pen and Touch thing, which makes me think I may need to add a fake input device of some kind to get Windows to do as I want.
