PID number in Task Manager can't be found

i tried running netstat -o to check what are the connections which are established. I saw two and they have PID numbers. When I checked it in my Task Manager, I couldn't find those PID numbers. Is there any way to find them?

Resource monitor for OS X

In Windows, you can get an overview of your computers resources and activities by going into the Task Manager. It also shows which task is consuming the most CPU cycles and RAM.

Is there a similar tool built into OS X? I know top comes with OS X, but I find it all a bit too confusing. What are my available options? Do I need to resort to a 3rd party app?

How do I permanently set the affinity of a process?

I have a game that has issues with CPU usage, so one of the fixes is to disable one core out of a quad core cpu. Since everytime I launch the game I have to manually go into the Task Manager and manually input the affinity, which sucks since the game is newly released yet prone to frequent crashes.

Is there a NON SOFTWARE solution?

I've looked up some solutions online and they seem to be geared towards Windows 7 only. Is there a solution for Windows 8.1 users like me?

How to find which tab a particular Chrome process refers to

I often have 6 or 7 separate Chrome windows open, often with 5-10 tabs in each. When I look at Windows Task Manager, I see each chrome.exe process, with some using a large amount of memory. How can I find which particular tab the process refers to? I want to know which one uses the most memory and close that tab instead of having to close every Chrome window. Is there any way to get this information? This is on Windows Vista, but it is the same on other versions of Windows as well.

How can I determine what process a window belongs to?

Every time I start up windows vista lately, I see a random floating window. It is a tiny little window with no title, and only the resize, maximize and restore buttons. I'd post an image, but I don't have reputation here yet.

I can close it, and it does indeed go away, but I would love to figure out what it is and stop it from popping up at all. I used Autohotkey's window spy on it and all I learned is that it is a swing window, which doesn't help me out a whole lot.

Is there a good way to identify which process it belongs to and figure out how to kill it?

In Windows Task Manager it seems that I have multiple Chrome processes running, even though I only have one Chrome window open.

How is this possible? I always thought each open program represented one process.

Why does the windows 8 task manager seem to freeze?

Several times I've seen the task manager appear frozen in Windows 8. It doesn't update, and generally shows double-digit CPU usage. Closing it and reopening it doesn't usually help, but rebooting generally does. How does this happen, and how do I fix it?

I can confirm that the task manager update speed is changed to "Paused" (Windows 8 Enterprise, not sure if this also happens in Windows 8.1) when the screen saver is activated.

Personally I consider this a bug because the the update remains paused after the screen is unlocked.

How do priorities work on task-manager and when should/n't I set this?

I've been setting some processes priority in order to see what it actually happens, but, guess what... Nothing; it all runs the same way...

I found on Google that priorities are not really linked with processing speed, is that true? Why not then? if a process has the highest priority, shouldn't it go faster??

Windows using too much RAM, how to diagnose resource hog

I have 16GB of system RAM. On startup with no applications open except the task-manager Windows is using about 3gb of RAM. I looked in the processes tab, but nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. How can I find out why my Windows is using so much RAM.

Reading from the poolmon it seems that my wireless broadcom driver is using about 0.4GB of of RAM. Even if I remove it would still be using 2.6GB on start-up, which is still too much.

After reinstalling the wireless driver associated with the memory leak. I have a new screenshot and would like to confirm that it was indeed a memory leak.

Does task manager run as administrator by default on Windows 10?

I was trying to close a non-responsive process, and after the first time I clicked "End Process", nothing happened. So I did it again and this time a window popped up saying "Access is Denied". Eventually the process did close, but this got me thinking..

If I had ran task manager as an administrator, would it have still gave me this "Access is Denied" message? Or, in-fact, does Windows 10 run task manager as an administrator by default (when the user account is an administrator). Furthermore, is there any difference between running it as administrator or not?

In Windows 7's task manager, I can select different columns to show. There are a bunch that are related to memory and memory usage, but I'm not sure what it all means.

"Task Manager" addon for Firefox?

Are there any addons for Firefox that can replicate the performance monitoring of Task Manager in Windows - seeing memory and CPU used - but for all the tabs in the current Firefox session?

I want to be able to see which tabs are taking up the most memory or hitting the CPU the hardest.
