Is there a way to get Eclipse to save the state of the project explorer tree and expand to where it was on startup? Every time I shut down Eclipse and start it back up, the file I had open last is opened, but the tree in the project explorer is completely collapsed...

What do you do to increase startup speed (or to decrease startup time) of your Delphi app?
Other than application specific, is there a standard trick that always works?
Note: I'm not talking about fast algorithms or the likes. Only the performance increase at startup, in terms of speed.

I just append
-vm

in eclipse.ini then I try to start eclipse again and got this error. Give me how to solve or link that actually solve it.

To speed up the startup time of the JVM, the Sun developers decided it is a good idea to precompile the standard runtime classes for a platform during installation of the JVM. These precompiled classes can be found e.g. at:
$JAVA_HOME\jre\bin\client\classes.jsa
My company currently develops a Java standalone application which brings its own JRE, so it would be a fantastic option to speed up our application start time by adding our own application classes to this jsa file, too.
I don't believe the JSA file was created by magic, so: How is it created? And how can I trick the JVM into incorporating my own classes?
EDIT: I already found out the following:
The classes.jsa is created by the command
java -Xshare:dump
The list of classes to incorporate in the dump can be found in $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/classlist.
I even managed to add my own classes here (and to add them into the rt.jar for java to find them), and to generate my own checksum below the classlist file.
The final problem is: Only classes in the packages java, com.sun, and org.w3c seem to be recognized, if I leave the same classes in their original packages, they won't be loaded. I searched the whole OpenJDK source for pointer about this, but it seems to have something to do with protection domains. If someone is interested enough in this topic and knowledgeable enough, please add some pointers for me to investigaete further.

I made my WPF application to startup with the next code below.
The process run on the process manager tool after the restart, but I can't see
the application on the screen.
When I open the same .exe file from the startup registery value the program runs perfect.
what can I do to fix it up ?

How do I run a batch file each time windows boots up also I need to run it in the back ground(without that command window getting displayed)? I use Windows Xp.
My actuall requirement is I want to start the Tracd server using the command line commands whenever Windows boots up.

I have an executable JAR file. Is it possible to create a Windows service of that JAR? Actually, I just want to run that on startup, but I don't want to place that JAR file in my startup folder, neither in the registry.

I would like to configure logback to do the following.
- Log to a file
- Roll the file when it reaches 50MB
- Only keep 7 days worth of logs
- On startup always generate a new file (do a roll)
I have it all working except for the last item, startup roll. Does anyone know how to achieve that? Here's the config...

What exactly makes the JVM (in particular, Sun's implementation) slow to get running compared to other runtimes like CPython? My impression was that it mainly has to do with a boatload of libraries getting loaded whether they're needed or not, but that seems like something that shouldn't take 10 years to fix.
Come to think of it, how does the JVM start time compare to the CLR on Windows? How about Mono's CLR?
UPDATE: I'm particularly concerned with the use case of small utilities chained together as is common in Unix. Is Java now suitable for this style? Whatever startup overhead Java incurs, does it add up for every Java process, or does the overhead only really manifest for the first process?

After upgrading to OSX Yosemite my install of MySQL stopped loading on startup.
This walk-through on MySQL says:
"The Startup Item installation adds a variable MYSQLCOM=-YES- to the
system configuration file /etc/hostconfig. If you want to disable the
automatic startup of MySQL, change this variable to MYSQLCOM=-NO-."
So, I opened that file and it says:
# This file is going away
AFPSERVER=-NO-
AUTHSERVER=-NO-
TIMESYNC=-NO-
QTSSERVER=-NO-
MYSQLCOM=-YES-
I assume OSX dev's added the # This file is going away but I'm not certain.
If that is the case, what is the proper way to start MySQL on startup on OSX Yosemite?

Both Google and Stackoverflow have shown me people with similar issues however this error is slightly different in that the IP address is suffixed with an asterisk:
NetBeans 8.0.1 is giving me the following error when trying to start Tomcat.
'127.0.0.1*' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
I've got both Tomcat 7.0.56 and Tomcat 8.0.14 installed, they both start OK from the command line (one at a time). I have them added to NetBeans' list of servers as Tomcat 7 and Tomcat 8.
I have a "Hello World" web app which I have configured:
Properties -> Run -> Server: tried both Tomcat 7 and Tomcat 8
Both give the same error.
If I try starting Tomcat using either:
Services -> Servers -> Tomcat 7 -> Start
Services -> Servers -> Tomcat 8 -> Start
I get the same error as when trying to start a web app:
'127.0.0.1*' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
Any ideas ?
Even if it's only what that asterisk is doing there ?

What's a simple way to get a Perl script to run as a daemon in linux?
Currently, this is on CentOS. I'd want it to start up with the system and shutdown with the system, so some /etc/rc.d/init.d integration would also be nice, but I could always add a custom line to /etc/rc.d/rc.local.
