How can I take a screenshot of the PC before it has started up?

For example:

• If I wanted to take a screenshot of my BIOS and send it to the Network Admin for review
• Windows installation screenshots such as those seen on this site - Windows is not yet installed!

Any ideas?

How to take a screenshot of a window larger than the screen

I want to take a screen shot of a window that's larger than the screen size.

If I zoom out of the window and I take the screenshot, I lose quality since zooming into the image will not work.

A large monitor would help me with this but I don't have one.

I'm using Jing, but it only allows me to take a picture of what's visible on the screen and ignores the rest.

Capture large webpage screenshot in Chrome

The webpage is very large (a few MB). I tried these extensions and they all fail:

• Screen Capture (by Google) - I get a new tab with no image in it
• Pixlr Grabber - I get a "500" request error after pressing save
• Capture Webpage Screenshot - Fireshot - telling me that the webpage is too big and it will be saved to RAM, after which I get an error: Insufficient video memory: You need at least -2365 MB of RAM (that's ridiculous, and I have I like 1 GB)
• Webpage & WebCam Screenshot - I get no image
• Awesome Screenshot - Capture & Annotate - It says capturing..., and when finishes it open a new tab with some buttons. When I press "done" it says preparing your image... forever.

How to take a screenshot on Windows 7 and auto create screenshot file on desktop like Mac?

I'm trying to find information how do we take a screenshot on Windows 7 that will actually create a screenshot file like .png in to your desktop like on mac where you can do it by press Command+Control+Shift+4.

In windows all I know is that I can do it by press press = Windows captures the entire screen and copies it to the clipboard.

or for the Active windows I can just do hold and press = Windows captures only the currently active window and copies it to the clipboard.

Right now I'm using maComFort which it gives me functionality of Mac like keyboard that I can take screenshot in such the same way with Mac OS X but really it changes many of the key in my keyboard in the way I don't like.

So I wonder if there is a better way?

In OS X Lion, when I press cmd+shift+4 and then space, I take a screenshot of an app.

But I use my OS in Spanish, and the screenshot file name is very long with spaces and "(,)" chars.

I've got a MacBookPro (no external keyboard, just the built-in laptop keyboard) and I'm running Virtual Box. My virtual machine is Windows XP and I'd like to capture an image of a window (or the whole screen if that's easier). It's not obvious to me how to express Alt-PrtScr` to the Windows XP VM with my MacBook Pro keyboard. I have Virtual Box Guest Additions installed.

One of the tools I've found invaluable in answering questions on SU is the snipping tool. I may on occasion need to take screenshots of part of the start screen or 'modern' apps. I may not want to take a complete screenshot, and while I can use PrtSc and switch back into desktop to paste it, this is clunky if I need to document a multi-step process.

Can I use the snipping tool on modern apps or the start screen? If not is there a configurable way to save a series of screenshots to a fixed folder, say when I press a combination of keys, so I can work, screenshot, then crop and annotate the folder of images?

I need a piece of software for Mac OS X 10.6 similar to AutoScreenShot for Windows that will take screenshots at intervals for me.

I'm trying to make a time-lapsed video of my work on an illustration, except it's going to be about a 5 - 10 hour illustration so I don't want to use any video capture software. I'm specifically looking for something that will do automatic screen shots. The software mentioned above would be perfect except it is only for Windows.

I have already checked out several podcasting applications, screencasting applications and even screencapture applications but none seem to have this automated function I'm looking for. I've checked out:

• Jing
• CaptureMe
• Copernicus
• Quicktime
• Podcast Capture (built into Mac OS X)
• DVD Snap (which would be perfect except it only runs through Apple's DVD Player)

I wonder if Windows 7 or Vista's Snipping Tool can capture a screen 10 seconds later, and capture the mouse pointer as well?

The thing is that sometimes we need to capture the thing that "pops up" when the mouse is over it, so in that case, Snippling tool won't seem to work (because the mouse pointer is activating the Snipping tool instead of pointing at the thing to get the "pop up" item). In this case, the key PrtScn on the keyboard can capture the screen to the clipboard, except it won't capture the mouse pointer, which is sometimes wanted...

Is there a way to do that, and possibly say, "capture the screen 10 seconds later, when I am all ready?" thanks.
