how to set Outlook rule to check if you are the only one on the TO: line

How to set an Outlook rule to find emails where you are the ONLY one on the TO: line. There are rule options for determining if email was sent ONLY to you, but I need to identify where my email address is the ONLY one on the "TO:" line but there may be others who where copied on the "CC:" line. There is a way to HIGHLIGHT these, but I need to be able to identify and MOVE them to another folder for quick access.

Outlook 2010 auto responder rule not working (Error)

In Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 I've created a template to use as an auto responder and I set a rule to respond using the template if my name is in the "to line".

Upon receiving any message the rule reports an error but gives no explanation of what the error is.

My goal here is simply to make an auto responder, if there is a simpler way/workaround I would love any help getting the to work as I am leaving town very shortly.

Outlook 2010 RULES - How to use "OR" boolean

It seems that Microsoft Outlook 2010 can only use the "AND" boolean when setting RULES. I find that very disturbing since even the lower end Windows Live Mail can use "OR". Am I missing something? I'm trying to recreate this WLM rule in Outlook:

Apply this rule after the message arrives
Where the From line contains 'casoclinico'
or Where the Subject line contains 'caso' and 'clínico'
Move it to the Isbrae - Caso Clínico folder

How to filter Outlook email using a Rule with a VBA script?

Certain things are not possible using the default e-mail rules like searching subjects or message bodies with wildcards. You can do multiple words but it's not the same if you need the words one character away from each other. How can I write my own Visual Basic for Applications code to filter Outlook email?

Outlook automatic reply that retains body text of the incoming message

I'm able to create a rule that replies to incoming emails with a template. That works as designed, however I would like for the reply to quote the original incoming email just like it would appear if I manually replied to it. At the moment the replies only have the template and nothing else.

I can't seem to figure out if this is possible - has anyone done it, and how?

Edit: More info - this is Outlook 2010 client on Windows 7. Server is Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 SP1 build 14.1.218

Add an exception to a Thunderbird filter?

In Outlook, I can have a rule that says something like:

If Subject = "ABC" Move message to folder "XYZ" Except if my name is in the To: or CC: box

I get a ton of automated emails that are sent to a mailing list, so this is very useful to make sure I see the rare cases where someone forwards one of these automated emails to me with a real question or message.

Is there any way to get this behavior in Thunderbird?

How to auto/schedule archive email in outlook that meets certain criteria?

I want to archive/delete (on a schedule, so not just a one off thing) all email that meets a certain criteria, in specific:

  • Older than 1 year
  • Where my name is not in the To or Cc box
  • Not sent to a specific distribution group

Any idea how I could set that up to run regularly?

How put both sent messages and received messages in an archive folder in Mail.app?

I have an archive folder that contains all messages I ever received on my mail account. The mail account is not a Gmail account. One thing I love about Gmail is that the threaded view not only shows messages I received but also messages I sent.

The only piece missing in this puzzle is the possibility for Mail.app to store a copy of all sent messages in my archive folder or to otherwise combine these two folders. Is this possible?

How to force the Outlook rule to be server-side?

Using Outlook 2010 with a corporate Exchange Server.

The rule I want to create is this:

After rule arrives from Blah@blah.com and with Passed in the subject Move it to the SuccessBuilds folder and mark it Read.

When I did that, the Outlook marked the rule as Client-Side. So I removed the part about marking it Read and it became a server side rule.

So I thought, ok, maybe marking an email as read is a client-side only activity. So I sent myself an email, closed Outlook, opened the email on my iPhone (thus marking it read). Then I opened the Outlook again and the email was already marked read. So clearly marking emails read can be a server-side activity.

So why is my rule being shoved client-side?

What is the best way to restrict network access for one machine on a home LAN?

As an example, I have 3 computers on a home network: Machine A Machine B Machine C

What I would like to do is isolate "Machine C", so that it cannot communicate with "A" or "B" and vice versa. It should be an entirely separate entity.

Let's say I'm using a Linksys E4200. Is there a good way to configure the above scenario with the default firmware? Is it possible with non-default firmware such as DD-WRT or Tomato? I do not have experience with this but have no problem learning.

My understanding is that this can be done by placing "Machine C" in the DMZ. Unfortunately, I am told a lot of home routers do not have a secure way of setting up DMZ by default. The two routers solution can work but still requires restricting administrative access from "Machine C" and adds an additional potential point of failure.

EDIT:

From the sound of things, to have proper firewall rules in place I need an additional router.

Can you create Outlook 2010 rules based on content or formatting?

This is not a critical issue, but it's something I'd like to accomplish. I'm also not sure that rules are the way to go, but I'm looking for something fully automated.

I have a correspondent who insists on typesetting his e-mails in Comic Sans. This offends my delicate sensibilities to no end. What I'd like is some automated tool in Outlook that detects the offending font and automatically switches that formatting to almost anything else. (If I can change the target font, great, if it just converts that e-mail to plain text, great. My preference would be Calibri, but again, whatever, as long as it isn't Comic Sans.) I'd like to do this without losing formatting on all e-mails. I don't need to go nuclear here, a surgical strike is exactly what's needed.

Like I said, I'm not sure Outlook rules are the place for this, as those are mostly for filing. (And I've stopped using them as they were creating some maintenance hiccups on my phone.) Even if it's just a macro I'd write, something, that checks the inbox item, looks for Comic Sans, and removes/changes the formatting.

Any help?

Outlook 2007 Server Side rules only apply to new emails, not old emails. How do I change this?

When I create a client side rule in Outlook, I can click "Run Rules Now", and it will apply my rules (which move mail from the inbox into subfolders) to all past mail items. However, this button doesn't exist for server side rules. Is there any way to run my server side rules so they will run on past, not just new, mail items?

How to allow Dropbox to auto-update by adding an exception to ESET firewall?

I am using ESET Smart Security v5.2.9.1 and Dropbox at Windows 7 x64.

The problem that I am facing is that every time Dropbox wants to auto-update, it downloads an updater file that has different filename each time, containing the version number, prohibiting me from creating an exception for it, to allow it freely update itself, without user interaction.

Is there a way to make ESET to allow the update process done automatically each time without popping up any alerts?
