How make a HTTP GET request using Ruby on Rails?

I would like to take information from another website. Therefore (maybe) I should make a request to that website (in my case a HTTP GET request) and receive the response.

How can I make this in Ruby on Rails?

If it is possible, is it a correct approach to use in my controllers?

get current URL of UIWebview

I already tried getting the current URL of my UIWebView with: webview.request.URL. Unfortunately the NSURL was empty. Anything wrong here? I am working with Xcode 3.2.2 beta 5.

The code above should be executed in the UIWebView delegate didStartLoad.

Unable to verify leaf signature

I'm using node.js request.js to reach an api. I'm getting this error

[Error: UNABLE_TO_VERIFY_LEAF_SIGNATURE]

All of my credentials are accurate and valid, and the server's fine. I made the same request with postman.

request({
    "url": domain+"/api/orders/originator/"+id,
    "method": "GET",
    "headers":{
        "X-API-VERSION": 1,
        "X-API-KEY": key
    },
}, function(err, response, body){
    console.log(err);
    console.log(response);
    console.log(body);
});

This code is just running in an executable script ex. node ./run_file.js, Is that why? Does it need to run on a server?

How to download image using requests

I know that fetching a url is as simple as requests.get and I can get at the raw response body and save it to a file, but for large files, is there a way to stream directly to a file? Like if I'm downloading a movie with it or something?

Correct way to try/except using Python requests module?

try:
    r = requests.get(url, params={'s': thing})
except requests.ConnectionError, e:
    print e #should I also sys.exit(1) after this?

Is this correct? Is there a better way to structure this? Will this cover all my bases?

Standard JSON API response format?

Do standards or best practices exist for structuring JSON responses from an API? Obviously every application's data is different, so that much I'm not concerned with, but rather the "response boilerplate", if you will. An example of what I mean:

Successful request:

{
  "success": true,
  "payload": {
    /* Application-specific data would go here. */
  }
}

Failed request:

{
  "success": false,
  "payload": {
    /* Application-specific data would go here. */
  },
  "error": {
    "code": 123,
    "message": "An error occurred!"
  }
}

How to get full host name + port number in Application_Start of Global.aspx?

I tried

Uri uri = HttpContext.Current.Request.Url;
String host = uri.Scheme + Uri.SchemeDelimiter + uri.Host + ":" + uri.Port;

and it worked well on my local machine, but when being published to IIS7, there is an exception saying

System.Web.HttpException: Request is not available in this context

Anyone know how to achieve this?

How to use a servlet filter in Java to change an incoming servlet request url?

How can I use a servlet filter to change an incoming servlet request url from

http://nm-java.appspot.com/Check_License/Dir_My_App/Dir_ABC/My_Obj_123

to

http://nm-java.appspot.com/Check_License?Contact_Id=My_Obj_123

?

Update: according to BalusC's steps below, I came up with the following code:

public class UrlRewriteFilter implements Filter {

    @Override
    public void init(FilterConfig config) throws ServletException {
        //
    }

    @Override
    public void doFilter(ServletRequest req, ServletResponse res, FilterChain chain) throws ServletException, IOException {
        HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest) req;
        String requestURI = request.getRequestURI();

        if (requestURI.startsWith("/Check_License/Dir_My_App/")) {
            String toReplace = requestURI.substring(requestURI.indexOf("/Dir_My_App"), requestURI.lastIndexOf("/") + 1);
            String newURI = requestURI.replace(toReplace, "?Contact_Id=");
            req.getRequestDispatcher(newURI).forward(req, res);
        } else {
            chain.doFilter(req, res);
        }
    }

    @Override
    public void destroy() {
        //
    }
}

The relevant entry in web.xml look like this:

<filter>
    <filter-name>urlRewriteFilter</filter-name>
    <filter-class>com.example.UrlRewriteFilter</filter-class>
</filter>
<filter-mapping>
    <filter-name>urlRewriteFilter</filter-name>
    <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
</filter-mapping>

I tried both server-side and client-side redirect with the expected results. It worked, thanks BalusC!

How do I send a POST request with PHP?

Actually I want to read the contents that come after the search query, when it is done. The problem is that the URL only accepts POST methods, and it does not take any action with GET method...

I have to read all contents with the help of domdocument or file_get_contents(). Is there any method that will let me send parameters with POST method and then read the contents via PHP?

Nodejs Request Object Documentation?

This is a pretty straight forward question, but I haven't found anything on google. I'm looking for documentation on the request parameter in Node.js's create server function, but haven't been able to find anything.

http.createServer(function(request, response){
  console.log(JSON.stringify(request));
});

Debugging with JSON.stringify() gives me an error, that the object is circular and the program stops. I've seen different things like request.url, or request.body, but is there a page documenting all of the request functions and parameters? It seems like it should be easy to find, I just can't seem to find it.

Edit:

Tried it again, turns out just doing console.log(request) writes out all of the data from the request. Here it is just as a reference:

Get Request and Session Parameters and Attributes from JSF pages

I'm using JSF with facelets and I need to get the request and session parameters inside the JSF page. In JSP pages I got this parameter like that: "${requestScope.paramName}" or "${sessionScope.paramName}". But now after using JSF there are only beans and you can't get any value except bean attributes.

NOTE: The session attributes what I need is auto filled using acegi security so I can't get any access to them.

So what to do now? Every help will be appreciated.

Simultaneous Requests to PHP Script

If the PHP Engine is already in the middle of executing a script on the server what would happen to other simultaneous browser requests to the same script?

  • Will the requests be queued?
  • Will they be ignored?
  • Will each request have its own script instance?
  • Any other possibility?
