What is the easiest way to turn off the wifi connection in my home at night? [duplicate]

Possible Duplicate:
How to disable internet access at night on the router?

I have teenagers who stay up all night and skype with their friends on their laptops.

Is there a way I can turn this off at a certain time every night without having to physically unplug my AT&T Gateway modem? I am not very computer savvy. Sorry if this sounds silly....

Any application to render what key I am pressing on screen in Mac OS X

I am an IT instructor who is using MacBook Pro. I have saw a screen cast which they were using MacBook too. It's interesting that while they were demonstrating how to use an application the key they hit also show on their desktop, for example: "fn + F9".

So I have googling around for this application. I think you may know this application, or suggest me to something similar. :)

Where does Mac OS X store file association information?

I know there is a system preferences pane to manually modify the file associations in Mac OS X Leopard. However, I'm curious where does Leopard actually store these information?

UPDATE: as I said, I'm not interested in methods to change them. I want to know the configuration file or database (like registry in Windows) where those mappings are stored.

Mac OS X Leopard Kernel Panics getting absurd

Today Mac OS X kernel panicked twice on me. The first time, I got this log. The second time, I got this log.

A few minutes ago, iTunes started sounding blocky, after quitting FireFox everything went back to normal, I am currently using Opera.

These are my system's specs.

EDIT: I ran the apple hardware test and got these results.

How to close large Javascript Alert windows on Chrome/ OSX

I'm using Chrome 14 and OSX 10.5.8.

If a website generates a Javascript alert window with a lot of content (like debug information) the bottom of the window disappears off the screen.

This places the buttons out of reach and means there is no way of closing the alert window as the "traffic light" of window buttons doesn't appear in the top left-hand corner.

Having the alert window open disables various actions on Chrome and makes it unusable. The only way I've been able to close the alert window is using "Force Quit" to close Chrome down totally.

Is there anyway of closing a Chrome Javascript alert window that is too big for screen in OSX?

OS X: How do I check for a specific WiFi network and mount network drives on startup

At home I use my MacBook Pro on my own WiFi network and routinely mount several volumes from a RAID attached to my AirPort Base station. I like to have my MBP automatically mount the volumes on startup.

In the past I have dragged their locations into my startup items so they would auto-mount, but this causes problems when I startup my MBP on other WiFi networks where my RAID is not available. Finder searches and searches for the drives and sometimes hangs.

What I would like to do is somehow have my MBP detect which WiFi network its on at startup and only if connected to my home network attempt to mount the RAID volumes.

Is this possible with Apple/Shell script or some 3rd party software?

How to upgrade Mac Pro 1.1 from OS X 10.6.8 to OS X 10.9 Mavericks?

Upgrading the Mac Pro 1.1 2006 in the standard way using the app store is not possible. This is caused by the lack of the 64 bit EFI bios. The hardware of the Mac Pro 1.1 is already complete 64bit capable but they do ship the efi bios only in 32bit version. Therefore the installer checks against this machine and note that you are not able to install OS X mavericks with your current hardware.

This is not totally true, because there exists a good workaround, which patches the boot.efi to be able to boot at the 32bit efi the 64bit OS X mavericks. But I encountered some problems which are not described in the tutorials i used. So i will publish here an accomplished tutorial for this task.

Free filesystem drivers for ext3 on OS X Leopard

I have an external drive that holds an ext3 partition, which is shared on the network via NFS. Problem is, I can't see this drive on my MacBook after I mount this via Directory Utility.

Does anyone have a working setup of an ext3 partition mounted on OS X Leopard (10.5) (even as an ext2 partition) ? Are there any free packages to add ext3 filesystem support to OS X Leopard ?
