The recent hack of the gawker network has left a question in my mind. If I had an account at gawker, I would protect myself by changing my passwords at all the other identity providers where I use the same or a related password.
What should I be doing when my openid id provider is hacked? I use this account to log in basically everywhere and I'm not at all sure how I would go about protecting myself when this account is compromised.

I just want to report a bug to a GitHub project, and I'd hate to go through opening yet another account just for that. OpenID authentication would have been perfect for me - but unfortunately, I cannot see that GitHub supports it.
So can anyone post explicitly, if one can authenticate to GitHub using OpenID or not? Has it ever been possible?

I'm not sure I understand what OpenID is ... but I see plenty of sites that ask you for it. What is it? and how do I create one?

The title basically sums it up but I have an openid from myopenid, I am just curious if the record each time I use it.

I accidentally clicked "Remember me" on a site requesting my OpenID. I'm using Gmail to provide it - is there a way to make it forget about that site?

I wanted to close my Google+ account, but when I went to do so, one of the items in the “Read this before proceeding” section mentions:
- You won't be able to use the "Sign in with Google" button to log in to third-party apps.
I assume they mean OpenID, but I’m not sure.

Is it that third party authentication in general and OpenID in particular can't be used to login to websites, if I'm on mobile phone?
The reason I ask this is because buxfer doesn't seem to allow this:
You will not be able to login to the
mobile/iPhone site, Facebook
application or Firebux because your
password is not stored by Buxfer. To
explicitly set a password for your
account, login and click on "Settings
» Password"
Is it a limitation of the website, or OpenID?

Does OpenID expose your email address to the websites that use the service? For example, when using stackoverflow with google openID provider is my google address exposed to stackoverflow? (It seems like it is because it displays my email) Is there a way to prevent that? I thought OpenID was supposed to be private?

I'm trying to understand OpenID better, and several questions are popping up in my head:
Is it all right to have multiple OpenID accounts, from different providers?
Is there any advantage or disadvantage to doing so? Would it cause any problems if they are unrelated to each other, or should (can?) they be linked together in some way?

I have been using http://chi.mp as an OpenID provider for a year or two without issues but in the last couple months, the site seems to be breaking down with error 500s, slow to no response etc.. Their twitter account reveals that others have similar issues for months and hints that things are generally not well behind the scenes.
But to the question: What to do when your OpenID identity provider is going into limbo? Is there a way to migrate to another OpenID server or is my only option to start fresh with a new provider (and new identity)?
Thanks for the help.

When I try to allow a third-party tool access to my Google Apps mail, I get the error:
Currently this single sign-in feature is disabled for the domain
example.com
How do I solve this?
