Is there any PDF to Mobi converter? [closed]

I'm looking for a free converter from Pdf to Mobi, for reading on a Nokia E71; I find more confortable to read on this format, but i'm open to other solutions.

Can a wireless mouse dongle be used to connect to a cell phone?

My laptop (Compaq Presario V3000) does not have bluetooth. Few months back I bought a bluetooth dongle to connect to my cell phone. One fine day the bluetooth dongle got damaged.

Now I also have this wireless mouse (Logitech M215), which also has a teeny-weeny dongle. What I am trying to figure out is, whether I can use the wireless mouse dongle to somehow connect to my cell-phone.

Is it possible?

Why it is hard to read QR code displayed on CRT screen?

I created some QR code just for fun, then tried to read them with my phone. When I display them on laptops, my phone read them just fine. But when I tried to read the exact same codes displayed on CRT screen.. none of them succeeded, from the mini one with very short text (10 characters) to the large one with very long link, displayed as full screen image. Later I read here that reading on CRT is not supported anyway. So, I'm curious, why QR code can't (or maybe hard) to read on CRT screen? Is it refresh rate, the color, the brightness, or anything else?

Disable prompt to convert videos copied to media device

I have a Samsung Galaxy S II, which when connected to my Windows 7 computer acts as a "Portable Media Player"

Whenever I try to copy a video onto the device, it prompts if I want to convert it, like so:

This gets quite annoying in the long run, so I'd like to disable it.

Is there a way to disable these prompts?

Will a mobile phone charge faster if plugged into a USB 3.0 port

Will a phone(or any device for that matter) charge faster if it is plugged into a USB 3.0 port compared to a USB 2.0 port?

I know to assist charging you can turn features off(with flight mode) or even turn the phone off but if you need the USB 3.0 port for a device like a hard drive that will actually benefit from a faster connection then will the phone be slower on the USB 2 port?

Notify my computer when mobile phone rings

I'm looking for a software that can be installed on my computer and notifies me when my cell phone rings. I often listen to loud music with headphones and cannot hear when someone calls me.

How do I make calls I dial from my mobile phone go through Google Voice? [closed]

I know I can dial the the Google Voice web interface, but obviously I'm not always near my computer when I want to call someone. Is there a way to make any call I dial go out with my Google Voice number? This primary benefit of this is that people who receive my calls would see my Google Voice number displayed, rather than my mobile number.

Note: I saw this today, but I'd like to do it without losing functionality. I just have a regular mobile phone, not a smartphone.

How do I eject the media devices or phones that are group under the Portable Devices category since there is no eject options

I notice that media player or Android phones (using MTP mode) that is connect to Windows, they are usually group under the Portable Devices category. Under this category, when you right-click, there is no eject button.

So, how do I eject my devices (e.g. HTC T8788 group under the Portable Devices category as shown in the picture below)?

How can I use my cell phone to establish a dial-up networking connection?

I am using Windows 7 and have a BlackBerry with T-Mobile (U.S.). I have paired the phone with my computer over Bluetooth, which automatically creates a serial port for it. I am able to open the port in PuTTY and successfully issue AT commands to the modem, including dialing. However, while using Windows to create and establish a Dial-Up Networking connection, I get an error dialog stating "Error 678. The remote computer did not respond."

In my testing, I also tried setting up a connection to dial a number connected to a phone. When attempting to connect over this connection, the phone does ring but the very moment I answer the call, my computer displays the above error dialog.

What must be done to successfully establish such a PPP connection? Some special AT initialization string perhaps?

To clarify, I'm not referring to the well-described and popular technique known as "tethering," in which the remote host of the data link is the mobile service provider. I am interested specifically in establishing direct data links with remote hosts other than my mobile service provider. Think old-school landline connection to your friend's computer or BBS.

Edit 1 As grawity pointed out in comments, the missing piece of the puzzle is the actual modulator that is compatible with v-series protocols, which I expected to be built into the cellphone. So far the best only software alternative I could find is this experimental project.

Edit 2 Found this forum discussion today. The participants state that there is no old-school modem in the BlackBerry.

Edit 3 When I place a call in PuTTY with ATD, immediately after the call is answered (and the callee is initiating the handshake) the cellphone returns OK. This is not the expected behavior for establishing a data connection. The phone should reciprocate the handshake, and upon success return CONNECT. (Alternatively it should return BUSY or NO CARRIER, but never simply OK.) Windows DUN must be interpreting this as the "Error 678" I was seeing.

Can I share a wifi connection (not 3G) from my phone? [closed]

I have a Samsung S3 and a Windows laptop. For some reason or the other laptops don't detect our school's wifi but mobiles do.

• I want to know if it is possible for me to share the wifi from my phone with my laptop.
• Anyone who knows why the notebooks don't detect the wifi can tell me.
• And if there is a way I can make my laptop detect the wifi.

Using mencoder to convert videos for your mobile phone

I Have a LG Viewty (actually a KP501), and I use mencoder (part of mplayer) to convert videos, using the following script :

Receiving and processing SMS messages through a script?

I am attempting to setup a system to receive and process SMS messages automatically. The system is intended for use in a context (an unfunded migrant workers' union in India) where both finances and sysadmin skills are extremely constrained (I would be the only person, in the near future, who would be administering the system). The intention is to make some functions - registration of members, generation of ID cards, communication of alerts and other information - easier.

However, for receiving and sending SMS, I have not been able to find any email to SMS or other kind of gateway that functions in India. Perhaps there is one (edit: apparently Clickatell does have an India service, but the prices appear astronomical). If not, can one rely on a USB mobile modem (such as those provided by many mobile providers in India)? It seems like, with utilities such as gammu or bitpim, SMS operations on such a modem could be scripted. Is this actually feasible, though?

How to see which device uses which kernel module?

I have a Samsung phone GT-B3210. For some time I was unable to find working Windows drivers for it. I eventually gave up looking. Then one time I was charging phone over its USB port and booted Ubuntu and was pleasantly surprised when I saw phone's μSD card reader on my desktop.

I now need to switch to Gentoo and would like to be able to work with phone there too. Lsusb tells me it's detected as
Bus 007 Device 006: ID 04e8:663f Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd SGH-E720/SGH-E840

but lsmod wasn't very helpful. On the list of loaded modules, I wasn't able to find one which looks like it's related to the phone.

Is there some other way to see which module is used by the telephone?

How to connect multiple bluetooth A2DP/HFP-compatible phones to one bluetooth headset?

I need to be able to use anytime - and anywhere! - three mobile phones with a single bluetooth headset. Mobiles and headset supports A2DP and HFP bluetooth v2.0 profiles. I do not need to simultaneously use all at once but certainly I don't want to disconnect one in order to pair another.

According to the manual of the headset I'm using, it is able to make multipoint connection with only two devices. I have confirmed the manual specs as the headset ignores pairing requests from a third device while already paired with two.

I would prefer to keep the current headset if possible, as I'm quite confortable with it.

I tried searching for a portable intermediate device that would act as a proxy (ie. that device would A2DP/HFP pair a decently large number of phones, tablets, fm tuners, tv sets, pc - on one side -, then pair with the headset on the other side, so phones will all think they have paired with the headset proxy while the headset will think it's paired to ONE device) but I'm out of ideas of search keywords before finding any!

How can I transfer multiple files at once over Bluetooth?

How can I transfer more than just one file at a time over Bluetooth from my desktop PC to my mobile phone? I have paired the two devices and I can send files from my PC to my phone, but only one file at a time.

What I normally do is, when the phone is in range, I right click a file on the PC and select Send To from context menu and then click Bluetooth. I then choose the device I want to send to and click Next.

I get a prompt on the phone asking me to receive the file or not. I accept it and the file is received. But if I wanted to transfer like 150 files this way that would be very tiresome. I'm sure there must be a better way to utilize file transfer over Bluetooth.

As I recall there used to be an icon for my Bluetooth connected mobile phone in the Computer view (Win+E) in Explorer in Windows Vista. I was able to double click on it just like you would do with a mounted USB flash drive or any HDD drive. It allowed me to browse its contents and transfer files over Bluetooth to and from this device. I think this was when I had a Nokia smartphone. I just assumed it was part of the Windows system... but maybe it was part of the Nokia sync tool... or is it?

How can I replicate this? Is it possible to have an icon for a connected Bluetooth device in the Computer view that you can click and browse and drag and drop files onto when the device is in range?... I would like to have this feature back, this time with this HTC phone.

I usually don't use Bluetooth for file transfers, simply because it's so slow. But sometimes it is just right, for smaller files of course, and I'm in a hurry and don't want to go get my USB cable or don't know where it is. But clicking and tapping through each file transfer is just not gonna work for me. It's OK for 2 or maybe 3 files, but for 10 files or more I give up.

Update:

If I right-click a folder and choose Send To, and then Bluetooth, Windows Vista just shows an info box stating that this operation is not possible.

It says I cannot use Bluetooth File Transfer (I think is the generic name of this feature) to transfer folders. It then suggests that I open up that folder, select all the files in it and then send them to the device that way.
