Why is it not possible to create a Microsoft email with "live.com" domain anymore?

Why is it not possible to create a Microsoft email with "live.com" domain anymore?

Looking at options only "outlook.com" and "hotmail.com" are available. What is the reason? Earlier the "live.com" was available. Will "live.com" emails be deleted?

How to disable conversation threading in Outlook Web App?

The Outlook 2010 web app's conversation threading "feature" is really bugging me. Is there any way to make it cease and desist? If so, how?

Outlook.com with IMAP or Exchange?

Microsoft just launched a revamped Hotmail under the name Outlook.com. It looks great and I'm thinking of migrating from Gmail, but I can't find anywhere whether Outlook.com supports IMAP or some sort of Exchange type connection.

I hope it's not just POP, since I just don't want to keep deleting emails/marking them a read etc on multiple locations.

If anyone knows what to use, please also share the settings that need to be configured.

Why does live.com limit passwords to 16 characters?

I wanted to register a @live.com e-mail address, but it says it can't register an e-mail address having a password that contains more than 16 chars.

Why? So that it would be easier to get the real password? (if the password hashes were stolen . . .)

Forwarding emails from outlook.com to Gmail

I need to forward e-mails to my Gmail account from outlook.com (due to their IMAP lack), but I don't find the option in the settings or anywhere—their layout is highly unintuitive.

Note: Please note that I am not talking about MS Outlook or MS365, I’m talking about the new outlook.com. I also do not want to forward from Gmail to outlook.com—that is described in the help already.

My initial research (below) shows that Microsoft doesn't provide this information.

Initial research:

According to this article, mobile access is possible, but it doesn't work for me on iOS.

Photosynth has turned from a 3D photo app to a Panorama sharing website?

One year ago, Photosynth was this unique technology that could take in any set of photos and show you the photos in 3D space, calculating exactly where the photos were clicked from.

Visit the site now, and all you see are Panoramas, where you can freely contribute your images to add to their online panorama gallery?

What??
Has Microsoft decided to quietly phase out a superior technology? and why does Wikipedia still say:

Photosynth is an application that analyzes digital photographs and generates a three-dimensional model of the photos and a point cloud of a photographed object?

Anybody has any idea what's going on here?
Is the original software available anywhere?

How can I force support.microsoft.com to display KB entries in English?

My browser's language preferences are set to (in order): [de-DE], [de], [en-US], [en], which works perfectly okay for 99,999% of websites I visit, since my mother tongue is German, with the notable exception of Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) articles on http://support.microsoft.com/ which are mostly served as unreadable poorly auto-translated articles.

Therefore, I find myself constantly looking for the link to the untranslated version of the article. Until a month ago this was a single click, but has now become an arduous task, clicking Article translations, then searching for the right column and line containing United States (English).

So, is there a possibility to force http://support.microsoft.com to always display KB entries in English? (Globally changing my language preferences is not an option, German is still preferred for mostly any other website. My browsers are Chrome and IE.)

How do I rename a folder in Office 365's Outlook?

I have created folders in Office 365's Outlook, but cannot find how to rename them.

When I right-click or control-click a folder's name, here are the options that are displayed (these are folders I have created):

Move up in the list, Move down in the list, Remove from Favorites, Empty folder, Mark all as read, Assign policy, Permissions

Edit: After Montag’s comment, I am adding a screenshot to show that the folders I click on are folders I created, not the default folders :

Why do Microsoft and LinkedIn text me from the same number?

(I'm not totally sure if this question is a match for this site, but I can't figure which StackExchange site is best; if I ought to migrate, I welcome any suggestions.)

I recently enabled two-factor authentication everywhere I could, and many sites now text me when I log in. Nearly every company texts from a unique number, as I would expect. However, Microsoft and LinkedIn always text me from the same number (i.e. same as each other). Does anyone know why? Does this just say that Microsoft and LinkedIn are hiring the same third party to manage their two-factor? Is there something more interesting going on there?

How do I select more than 9 Inbox items (but less than all the emails) in Office 365's Outlook?

When I try to select several emails in Outlook within Office 365, here is what happens:

I can select 9 emails (or 13 emails if I disable the preview text in the preferences) if I click on the first one displayed and then shift-click the last one displayed.

But if I select one, then scroll to the top of the list and then shift-click, nothing happens.

Is it possible to select more emails in one go than the number of emails displayed on the screen?

Sync exchange calendar on Google Calendar

I'm trying to sync an Exchange Calendar into a Google Calendar that I have set up through an account I just made.

What I'm trying to accomplish is, on the back end of seeing my Google calendar, see both calendars, and be able to easily copy items from the exchange calendar to the Google calendar account.

For example, you can add public calendars to a Google Calendar by just typing the email of the account that is public. I have done so with one portion of this project, and it's been very useful. I just need that to be set up with Exchange, since most of the people here here Exchange more frequently.

So in conclusion, I'm wanting to basically see all of the calendars that I have available to me on the back side, and able to copy events to my calendar if I so choose to.

Thanks for your help.

How do I un-share a OneNote notebook?

I recently made a notebook and wanted to share it. I used the share option and created a "View only" link for the notebook.

Now, I want to unshare it. So, I want to know how to do that.

I figured that I could just go to OneDrive and change permissions but since I shared the link, the permission currently rests with anyone who has the link. So, if I remove permissions no one can see it. Suppose in a week, I once again want to share it with someone else, and once again generate the link ... Permissions will be regranted and everyone will be able to see it again.

So, is it possible to permanently unshare it with some people (even if I may choose to generate a share link in the future) ?

I guess the easiest way of doing it is by changing the location of the notebook on the cloud.

Does anyone have any ideas about how I can do this?

Microsoft Equivalent of Google Apps for Business (Email)

I've redesigned a website for a client and am soon to set it live.

However, his business emails appear to be hosted with Hotmail and I need to create a couple of new email accounts.

He has told me that he originally used Microsoft Small Business to create the accounts, however it was then replaced by Office 365.

I've tried logging into Office 365 with his email login details and can't find anywhere to manage email accounts. I also can't find any guides on how to do so on their help pages or even on Google.

Could it be I'm looking in the wrong place?

I'm familiar with how to do this kind of thing on Google Apps, but I didn't even realise there was a Microsoft equivalent until now.

I hit a bug when trying ro report a bug regarding visual studio to connect.microsoft.com

having created an account and signed in

I go there

https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio

and get this message

enter image description here

The only "submit a bug" button I can see is on the microsoft.net native page connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/MSNetNative And that just goes to an error page , a bug trying to submit the bug! enter image description here maybe there's a submit a bug option elsewhere that works

[by contrast] If I click on powershell in the directory then there's a button to submit a bug. If I click on visual studio I get a message saying "you have been invited to join a private NDA program for Visual Studio, you can view specific content by selecting from the dropdown titled "Programs" located at the top of this page." at that point I've no idea what to click next, but clicking programs doesn't seem to help much.
