Windows 7 XP Mode - Is it possible to have multiple XP Mode Virtual PCs?

Windows 7's XP Mode virtual PC supports some features that aren't 'stock' with an XP Virtual PC such as a different start-up dialog, no Shutdown button, etc. Possibly the most significant is that applications installed within the XP Mode VM appear within the Windows 7 start-menu.

I have a need for multiple XP Mode VM's--is it possible to have 2 or more XP Mode VM's, or to otherwise enable these extra integration features in an XP Virtual PC?

Can you install Ubuntu Server in a Windows PC VM on Windows 7?

I am running Windows 7 64-bit. I've installed Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode successfully.

Next, I downloaded Ubuntu Server 9.04 32-bit. I created a new virtual machine with a dynamically expanding .vhd, loaded the Ubuntu .iso, and booted the machine. I successfully made it through the install, but when the machine reboots, I get a segmentation fault. Here is a screenshot:

Has anyone successfully installed Ubuntu on Windows Virtual PC?

Is it possible to install Windows 8 using Microsoft Virtual PC?

I'm trying to install Windows 8 on my pc via Microsoft Virtual PC. However I get this annoying, non-descriptive error:

enter image description here

I'm looking to find out if Microsoft Virtual PC supports Windows 8, and if so how do I solve this issue?

NOTE: I'm NOT trying to ask for alternatives to Virtual PC, but rather trying to figure out if it's possible, and if so how, to use Virtual PC.

What's the default login for the Windows XP IE6 VPC image supplied by Micosoft? [duplicate]

This question already has an answer here:

I downloaded the Microsoft-supplied Virtual PC image for Windows XP / Internet Explorer 6 testing from http://modern.ie and tried to login using the documented credentials of IEUser / Passw0rd! (referenced in the MS supplied release notes)

This does not work. What are the correct default login credentials?

Creating a Windows Virtual PC image from a Physical machine

On Windows 7 (Home Premium), using Windows Virtual PC, how can you create an image of a physical machine running Windows XP?

I've found the "Virtual Server 2005 Migration Toolkit", but this is of course for Virtual Server 2005, not Windows Virtual PC. I've also found this link, but it is targeted to "Microsoft Virtual PC" (i.e. the previous version of Virtual PC).

Note: I am not interesting in using an alternative virtualization software (such as VirtualBox, VMWare, etc).

Move an existing XP install into VMWare or Virtual PC

I have a computer that has a bunch of things on it that are pretty legacy. It's an old machine, but getting everything on it set up properly on another computer could take weeks, if it's even possible at all.

So, I was wondering about taking that existing XP installation and virtualizing it, running it within VMWare or Microsoft Virtual PC. That would allow me to run it on newer, much speedier machines without wasting time moving everything over.

Is this even possible to do?

Thanks!

Copy and Paste from Virtual PC has stopped working

Up until the last week I was able to copy and paste text from my virtual PC (VPC) to my host machine, however I tried it today with no success...it doesn't error it will just paste whatever is in the host machines buffer/clipboard rather than what I have selected and copied from the VPC.

it has definitely copied to the clipboard on the virtual pc as you can paste into notepad on the VPC

has anyone else encountered this?

When I run Windows Virtual PC on Windows 7 it just shows me the folder with my Virtual PC files. What's up?

Running Windows 7 Pro, 32 bit.

Installed Windows Virtual PC and XP Mode. Got XP Mode working but now when I run Start>Programs>Windows Virtual PC> Windows Virtual PC it just opens a Windows Explorer folder showing the XP Mode Virtual PC: Windows XP Mode.vmcx

What's up?

testing Internet Explorer 9 on virtual PC

I've downloaded the Windows 7 .vhd from Microsoft's site. I created a virtual PC from that .vhd. It runs OK, but the welcome screen want a password for one of the accounts (admin and administrator).

I've tried guessing a few passwords but with no luck...

Anyone knows the correct password?

Is it possible to have 64 bit guest OSes run in Virtual PC RC on Windows 7?

Is it possible to have 64 bit guest OSes run in Virtual PC RC on Windows 7? I tried to install a Windows 7x64 Ultimate guest in Virtual PC, on a host PC running Windows 7x64, but got the following error:

Attempting to load a 64-bit application, however this CPU is not compatible with 64-bit mode.

From what I have read, there is no workaround for this error using Virtual PC. Does anyone know how to get around this issue?

How to run Mac OS X within Windows Virtual PC? [closed]

The short answer is: You Can't.

It seems to be a popular question as to whether you can install/run Mac OS X under virtualization within Windows. However, most of the questions really answer the reason as to why you can't.

If you have any tips that contradict this post, and actually allow you to install/run Mac OSX within Windows Virtual PC, please post them. Thanks.
