Changing language of functions in Excel 2011 for Mac

I use Office 2011 for mac, with Norwegian language. I don't mind menus and such being Norwegian, but for some reason, the names of functions have been translated from English to Norwegian, and that is a royal pain. It's quite cumbersome to search for a solution to some problem online, and then have to look up or figure out what the Norwegian equivalent of the function names are.

Is it possible to change the language of the functions to another language (English)?

How can I get Excel 2011 to stop opening my Personal Macro Workbook?

Ever since I created a couple of macros in Excel for Mac 2011, the Personal Macro Workbook opens every time I open Excel. How do I keep that from happening?

I have since deleted the macros, but I still get the workbook popping up every time I open the program. It's an annoyance, more than anything, but one I'd like to eliminate.

How do I align a column of numbers by decimal point in Microsoft Excel when some of those numbers are negative?

Let's say I have a list of the following numbers:

0.02
-0.25
-4.13
5.24
-11.36
40.61
-141.20

How would I align them in a column such that they are left-justified in the cell but the decimal points align?

For example,

|   0.02    |
|  -0.25    |
|  -4.13    |
|   5.24    |
| -11.36    |
|  40.61    |
|-141.20    |

I was tempted to use the "Accounting" category, but this transformed my negative values by adding parentheses.

I'm using Excel for Mac 2011.

How can I process million rows of data in Excel?

I understand that Excel can only process 65,536 rows of data. If I'm trying to analyze 7 million rows of data (say, plot a histogram distribution of 7 million values), is there any workaround?

Can I still sort all 7 million values even if only 65K are displayed?

I'm using Excel 2011 for Mac.

Excel 2011 Mac auto-recover file lost

Yesterday morning my colleagues Excel 2011 (on Mac OSX 10.8) crashed. He reopened Excel and was asked if he wanted to recover the previous document. Yes, he said and then got a document named previousfilename(version 1). To be certain that this document was saved he continously saved the (recovered) document manually during the day and by the end of the day he saved it finally and went home.

Today there is NO trace of the document whatsoever. We have looked in original location, trash, userfolder/Microsoft userdata/Office 2011 AutoRecovery etcetera and there is no document except for the original unedited version. Spotlight doesn't find it either.

Since we have a running Time Machine backup we have lots of backups from yesterday but the same locations are also empty.

This is a freshly installed product. If this behaviour is expected Excel then having no auto-recover function at all would actually be better. I hope someone out there might help out. Manually saving a document SHOULD leave a trace somewhere in the filesystem?

How can I quickly determine if an Excel spreadsheet contains any formulas or is just "static" text?

I've inherited an Excel spreadsheet with many sheets, all full of text and numbers. As far as I can tell, this is all hardcoded, static text. After a quick look, I can't see any formulas or anything which is updated dynamically based on anything in any cell anywhere. Certainly there are no instructions in the spreadsheet that would guide me to finding them.

But is there an automatic, quick way that I can tell for sure? Or do I have to check the definition of every cell on every sheet by hand?

Update: To clarify, my spreadsheet has ten sheets, each one with thousands of rows and dozens of columns. So I need a solution that will just tell me whether or not a formula exists - anything that requires me to scan hundreds of thousands of cells with my eyes checking for something probably isn't going to help me too much.

I only have Microsoft Excel for Mac 2011 available, if that makes any difference.

Excel data into PowerPoint slides

I have already found some helpful sites but I'm still unable to do what I want. My Excel file contains few columns and multiple rows. All the data from one row would be in one slide but data from different cells in that one row should go to a specific elements in PP slide. At first, is it possible to export data from an Excel cell into a specific text box in PP? For example, I would like to have all data from the first column of each row go to a Text box 1. Let's say I have 100 rows so I would have 100 slides and each slide would have Text bow 1 with correct data. Text box of slide 66 would have data from the first column of row 66. Then all data from the second column of each row would go to a text bow 2 and so on.

I tried to do some macros with bad success. I also tried to use Word outlines and export them into PP (New slide -> Slides from Outline) but there seems to be a bug since I got 250 pages of gibberish. I had only two paragraphs and both had one word. First paragraph used Heading 1 style and second paragraph used Normal style.

Sites what I have found, use VB and/or some other programming language to create slides from Excel sheets. I have tried to add those VB codes into my macros but none of them hasn't worked so far. Probably I just don't know how to use them correctly :) Here's some helpful sites:

Excel opens all files in directory

Excel 2011 is behaving strange. When I open a file, Excel responds by opening all (.xlsx and .csv) files in the directory!

I'm running OS X Mavericks. Tried several ways of opening: double click, right-click menu. Result is always the same: all files are opened.

How to return first non-blank cell and if it's already a value before it, return the third non-blank and so on?

How to make a function which would return the first non-blank cell value but if it's defined in the left cells next to it, it would jump 2 cells and look for the next value.

Table:
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 || 29 | 30 | 31 | 32...
a | b |   |   | c | d |   || a  | c  |    |
  |   |   | a | b |   |   || a  |    |    |
a | b | c | d | e | f | g || a  | c  | e  | g

from DL3:EW4873 is the values, always in pairs, but I need only the first value-piece and only if it's not already a value in the EX to EK range.

Also the EX:FK cells are the place where formulas will go.

How to make a concentric pie chart in Excel?

I'd like to make a chart (preferably on its own sheet) that is a combination of a regular pie and a doughnut. The regular pie sits in the middle and the doughnut surrounds it.

I have seen those before, but I fail to see the option in Excel. I use Excel for Mac 2011 and/or Excel for Mac (Preview).

Assuming that the standard option is not there, what would be the best way to go about making it anyway?

This is an attempt that (unfortunately) is not on its own sheet (because it is one chart on top of another):

Find first number greater than x and return another value in that row

I have created an investment spreadsheet. In one column I have the ending balance each year. In another column I have the years.

 A    B
2000 500K
2001 450K
2003 1.2M
2004 1.5M

How can I display the year I hit a certain arbitrary threshold (say $1M) in a single cell somewhere else on the sheet (say E32), without knowing how long it may take to reach the amount?
