I would like to create a cell format for one cell to only allow the value "yes" or "no" for this cell.

How could I do this?

Make Excel 2003 Open Spreadsheets in new instances

In Excel 2003, It seems to be putting each spreadsheet I open into the existing Excel application as a new window. this makes it very difficult in a dual monitor set up to put one spreadsheet on each monitor.

Is there a way to force Excel to make a new instance of itself every time I open a new spreadsheet?

Select each nth row in Excel

I have an Excel spreadsheet with thousands of rows. I want to select every 7th row from that spreadsheet. (By "select," I mean delete all of the other rows, or copy the selected rows into a new worksheet.)

What's the easiest way to do that in Excel 2003?

How to change font color in Excel based on cell value?

How do you change the font color of a column of cells based on their entered value? I've got a column with the heading at row 1 and the values starting at row 2 going on down. I want to change font color based on what is entered in the cells. E.g. If the value is Active, than make the color green and if it's Requested make it orange.

Thanks!

Excel's date format without a year

I'm putting in employees' birthdays, but they come without years for sensitivity reasons. But when I put the month and day in, Excel automatically adds 2012 as the year! Obviously this is not right. I was able to format the cells to just show month and day, but I don't like that the year is in there because it is incorrect information.

Is there any way to keep the Date format but not have a year automatically included?

How to open ods files in Excel?

What is the best way to open ods files in Excel 2003?

Is there some plug-in available? Should I use some convertor to xls? Or would it be best if I just used LibreOffice (or OpenOffice)?

The file I want to open shouldn't contain anything fancy, so I probably don't need a solution that understands every detail of the format.

Hyperlink font in Excel always changes to the default font face/size

For cells containing hyperlinks the font changes automatically into the default one (even though I have selected all cells and applied a different font).

How can you configure Excel to use the same font face/size as you selected for the entire sheet (or group of cells) and not the default font set in Excel (in Excel 2007 the font can be set in Excel Options | Popular tab | When creating new workbooks section).

How do I force a user to use a specific format when entering time data?

I need to ensure the users of a particular spreadsheet are entering the time data in military time. I'm finding some folks are omitting the colon, and it's causing problems. Is there a way to force a specific formatting for a range of cells?

How to copy a single cell into multiple worksheets in Excel?

I have about 30 worksheets, and I need to put my name on the top left corner (cell A1). Is there an easy way to do this without having to write it or paste it into every worksheet?

How to get excel row numbers to skip the header

This is really a cosmetic question. Excel by default starts counting from line one which is the header. Is there some way to have it start counting from the real line one (the line after the header). In the attached screenshot socks is row one but since the header is counted it has become row two.

Cells not updating automatically

I have a formula in a cell which counts the values in 2 other cells. Normally, after entering in the values in these 2 other cells, the formula cell updates automatically when Enter is pressed or when the cells are clicked out of.

However, for some reason, the value calculated by the formula does not update automatically. I am having to click on the formula bar, then I have to click enter for the formula cell to do its thing.

Why is this happening?

Export an Excel spreadsheet to fixed-width text file?

Excel has the functionality to import fixed-width text files where it presents a dialog that lets you choose where the begins and ends of fields are which it puts into columns.

Does it also have functionality where, given an existing spreadsheet, you can export to a fixed-width text file?

If so, how do I access this? I have tried using Save As and choosing Text File but it seems to only save as Tab-delimited which doesn't help me.

This is Excel 2003 if it matters.

How do I put logical operators in an Excel =IF Formula?

I'm trying to enter a formula to display text according to an IF condition. The best I can manage is something like...

=IF(myval>=minval & myval <= maxval, "OK", "Not OK")

But this appears to work exactly wrongly, displaying OK when myval is out of range and Not OK when it is in range. How do I specify the logical AND correctly? I have tried && as I have seen in questions here, and inner brackets, but these result in errors.

Fill an area between two lines in a chart in Excel

There are a lot of hacks to fill the area between two lines in a chart; however, I want one that works seamlessly between 2003/2007 and mac 2011. Preferably, something that is not a hack.

Converting decimal number of hours into time

I need to convert number of hours, such as 156.90 to 156:54 in excel 2003.

All of the conversions I found did this incorrectly. The number of hours shouldn't be changed, only the decimal.
