How to tell if my license is OEM?

I got a Windows 7 license key from my university for my computer. I have 2 computers though, is it okay if I use the same key for both of them?

According to this, unless it is OEM license it should work (one at a time). So how can I tell if it an OEM licence? Or any other rules apply for university licences?

I do not want to spoil the only licence I have, since the guy who distributes licences is mean and grumpy.

Finding the Windows 7 product key

I'm doing a hard drive upgrade and it might ask me for the product key again. How can I find it?

How "unique" is a Windows Product Key?

I'm wondering if the Windows Product Key used for activating any Windows since XP is unique to this installation.

How do OEM systems and corporate licenses fit into this scheme? Do they use the same product key for several systems or is each one activated with a seperate key?

Where can I find what license key was used in my installed copy of Visual Studio 2008?

I have legitimate copies of Visual Studio 2008 installed on several computers, each with different license keys. I cannot remember what key was used on each install.

Where in the registry can I find what license key was used for that PC's Visual Studio 2008 installation?

I would imagine that it is in the registry somewhere.

Recovering Windows license keys from within a LiveCD environment in Linux

I'm curious if it's possible to retrieve the license keys of a Windows XP machine from within a LiveCD environment in Ubuntu.

Normally, if I was in Windows, I would just run Magical Jellybean Keyfinder, but is there some way to do this from within a LiveCD environment?

Format PC without losing Windows 7 license [duplicate]

Possible Duplicate:
Windows activation with planned reinstall

I have a windows 7 intallation that I got from MSDN. The thing is that I want to format my PC and reinstall windows 7.

At first I thought I just have to write the current key somewhere, reinstall windows 7 normally and then activate it with my old key, but a friend did this and on the last step the activation wouldn't work because it said that the key was in use.

What can I do?

Why don't Microsoft show the Windows Product Key in System Information?

I have a MSDN Premium License and forgot which key (you get to claim 10 keys) I used to activate one of my Windows 7 installs.

I've always wondered why Microsoft don't show the current Windows Product Key in System Information? Why should I have to use a third party application to recover this?

Can anyone recommend one of these key recovery tools (which always look pretty dodgy) and vouch that it isn't malware loaded?

Extract Windows XP cd key from eeePC recovery partition

I have an eeePC 1005 HE where the Windows XP CD key has become unreadable on the sticker (apparently it fades out by design). I'd like to retrieve the CD key (or the one that was used in the preinstalled windows) from that system. There is a recovery partition (Windows PE) on it that would let me restore it to factory settings. Is there any way I can extract the CD key from the recovery partition, without performing a full recovery?

Site to lookup what Windows License Key allows?

I have a bunch of old Windows XP Home license keys, but I'm not sure which are upgrades, which are for Retail RTM, and which are OEMs. I do have a XP Home RTM ISO I got of off MSDN

Is there a web site or some way I can see where the key came from plus what version of Windows (Home or Professional, x86 or x64) and type (RTM, OEM, Upgrade)?

How do I change the license key for an installed copy of Visual Studio 2010?

We have a number of Amazon EC2 instances with Visual Studio 2010 installed on them. The license we are using has a fixed number of seats, all of which are being utilized at the moment.

I've created a new instance for an additional developer on our team (cloned from an image with VS 2010 already installed on it), but I need to use a different license key for the Visual Studio 2010 installation on his instance.

How do I change the license key for an installed copy of Visual Studio 2010?

Can I change my Windows 7 product key at a later date?

I am currently downloading Win 7 home premium from MSDN, which I intend to try out on a Vista PC that is in dire need of a clean install. However, I have also pre-ordered a copy of Win 7 home premium which will arrive in October and is intended for that PC. I am wondering if I can install the one I download from MSDN today and update it to use the new key in October without the need of a reinstall. I found this blog post which seems to suggest that it is possible to change keys in Win 7.

Another complicating factor might be that I am in Europe so the one I ordered may be an "E" Home Premium version (whatever that will actually mean), whereas the one from MSDN is the standard Home Premium version.

How do I change the product key for Microsoft Office 2007?

I've been asked to "re-key" my copy of MS Office 2007 to use a different product key. Is this possible? If so, how would I do it?

Can I "unactivate" a Microsoft Office 2010 key to install on a new machine?

I just acquired two Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus keys. But I'm replacing the machine that I have soon. I don't want to have to use one key on the current machine and then use up the other key when I get the new machine.

Isn't there a way of "uninstalling" office that would effectively place the key back in my pool? That way I have no problem moving the license to a new machine.

Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit to 64 bit [duplicate]

Possible Duplicate:
When reinstalling Windows 7 or Vista, does the language, version, architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) or source (OEM, retail, or MSDN) matter?

I have a Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit NFR Installation DVD, but I want to install the 64 bit version. Is it possible to use the key that I've received for the 32 bit Windows 7 Ultimate version to install the 64 bit version? (e.g. using the Windows 7 ultimate RTM ISO download available from various sources)

NOTE: Someone that has installed the 32 bit version and then tried a fresh install using a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit ISO has stated that the 32 bit key does not work - which I find odd)
