WAMP 403 Forbidden message on Windows 7

I have installed WAMP version 2.1 on my windows 7 machine. When i browse to localhost in my browser, the WAMP server page is visible.

But when I browse to my IP in my browser, I get the message

403 Forbidden: You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Any suggestions?

Can I block search crawlers for every site on an Apache web server?

I have somewhat of a staging server on the public internet running copies of the production code for a few websites. I'd really not like it if the staging sites get indexed.

Is there a way I can modify my httpd.conf on the staging server to block search engine crawlers?

Changing the robots.txt wouldn't really work since I use scripts to copy the same code base to both servers. Also, I would rather not change the virtual host conf files either as there is a bunch of sites and I don't want to have to remember to copy over a certain setting if I make a new site.

I am new to Apache and I wanted to ask, where is my httpd.conf file located? I am running a server from the amazon ec2 (elastic compute cloud) and I can't find my apache config. Can someone please tell me where it is located? Thanks!

Accessing localhost (xampp) from another computer over LAN network - how to?

I have just set up a wi-fi network at home. I have all my files on my desktop computer (192.168.1.56) and want to access localhost over there from another computer (192.168.1.2).

On my desktop I can access localhost through the normal http://localhost. Apache is running on port 80 as usual.

Exactly what do I have to do to achieve this? There is documentation on the net but they either don't work or are too fragment and confusing to understand.

I think I have to make changes to my apache's httpd.conf file and the hosts file. Any ideas as to what changes to make?

Apache permission denied

I've just installed a new Apache 2.4.2 with Php fast cgi build on windows.

Then I modified the httpd.conf adding the following:

Apache multiple DocumentRoot

How can I have the following setup in apache?

http://server/ABC/* should be served by /var/www/ABC/*

http://server/PQR/* should be served by /var/www/PQR/*

Every other request should be served by /var/www/Others/index.php (a single file).

mod_rewrite or mod_alias?

I have a server, it's httpd.conf already has some "RedirectMatch permanent" directives in it.

I'm not that familiar with mod_alias, I've only ever used mod_rewrite.

What's the basic difference? I don't see a "L" flag in mod_alias to stop processing rules.

Which one should I use for best practices of redirecting from one subdomain to another?

Can I use both at the same time and will it be obvious which takes precidence?

Apache mod_deflate not compressing json output

I've followed all the steps in multiple tutorials to enable mod_deflate in Apache but I'm still not seeing compression (in Fiddler) when I issue requests for json (via PHP script) to my local web server. Compression isn't necessary for my browser to localhost but my machine will be periodically exposed over a slow VPN so I would like to use it.

installing php and apache on Amazon EC2 instances

Apache could not be started - ServerRoot must be a valid directory and Unable to find the specified module

I'm using xampp portable server and I'm having some trouble with Apache http server, it says "ServerRoot must be a valid directory"

Command line output:

Please close this command only for Shutdown
Apache 2 is starting ...
httpd.exe: Syntax error on line 35 of K:/../../../xampp/apache/conf/httpd.conf: ServerRoot must be a valid directory

Apache could not be started

I checked the line 35 of xampp/apache/conf/httpd.conf and it was:

ServerRoot "/xampp/apache"

Which doesn't exist. My folders are:

K:/../../../xampp/apache/conf     <- where the httpd.conf is
K:/../../../xampp/apache/         <- the server root
K:/../../../xampp/apache/modules  <- where server modules are

If i change (at line 35) to

ServerRoot ".."

It says:

Please close this command only for Shutdown
Apache 2 is starting ...
httpd.exe: Syntax error on line 65 of K:/../../../xampp/apache/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load modules/mod_access_compat.so into server: Unable to find the specified module

Apache could not be started

I checked, and modules/mod_access_compat.so exists, so i can't figure out how to fix it.

Run local Apache Web Server + Tomcat as part of Gradle Build

Our current environment has Tomcat containers sitting behind an Apache Web Server. Basically the web server has ProxyPass rules that we use to decide which Tomcat instance to route to based on the context root.

As part of our local gradle build, we are using the Cargo plugin to spin up a local tomcat container and deploying our war's to it. I haven't found anything that will let us spin up an Apache WebServer to test our apache config.

Our goal is to have two Tomcat containers, A and B, and one Apache WebServer C, such that C will route localhost/appA to tomcat A and localhost/appB to tomcat B.

This is all in an effort to run automated acceptance tests, but I have not found a gradle plugin like cargo that will do this.

Redirection on Apache (Maintain POST params)

I have Apache installed on my server and I need to redirect from http to https. The reason for this is our load balancer solution cannot hand https so requests come in on http and then we transfer them to https using the below lines in the httpd.conf file.

<VirtualHost 10.1.2.91:80>
     Redirect 302 /GladQE/link https://glad-test.com/GladQE/link.do
</VirtualHost>

This works fine for GET requests but POST requests will loose the parameters passed on the URL. What would be the easiest way to perform this redirect and maintain POST params?

I need to get from http://glad-test.com/GladQE/link.do to here https://glad-test.com/GladQE/link.do maintaining POST params
