Mac OS 10.6 has a "Keyboard Shortcuts" preference pane in System Preferences. It lets you add new entries, but they don't seem to work. Is this the correct way to add hotkeys? For instance I would like Command+Esc to open Terminal.app.

I'd like to disable ctrl+alt+arrow keys changing the screen orientation. I've seen here that this is a function of the Intel graphics driver. So I followed the directions and disabled hotkeys in the Intel graphics card control panel, but the hotkeys are still enabled. Might there be some other program controlling this? I'm running a Lenovo T420.

I know in notepad++ i can use mouse doubleclick to select whole word, but i want to use some keybord shortcut. For example in visual studio it's ctrl+w by default and it's very useful. Can i specify shortcut for that action in notepad++ or does it exists?

When I paste text into an email in Outlook, the following prompt hovers near the text:
Based on the hint, instead of clicking on the button with the mouse, it looks like I should be able to press Ctrl+T. But if I do that, it indents the paragraph.
So what key combination will keep the text only?

I've install Windows 8 on a BootCamp macbook air
The problem is that the command key located differently from the winkey in a normal keyboard, therefor, I keep clicking Winkey+Enter which starts the narrator (which is really annoying!)
Is there a way to disable this shortcut?

I'm using Eclipse in Windows XP. One of my favorite shortcuts is CTRL+ALT+DOWN (or CTRL+ALT+UP) to duplicate a line.
I just found that on this machine (XP ThinkPad, with NVIDIA graphics driver), this is has the effect of fliping the screen upside down, which I will rarely use.
How can I disable this? Or, if that is difficult, is there a way to give Eclipse hotkeys precedence over any other hotkeys? I'm not sure if this is an OS 'feature' or a background utility, or a function of the graphics driver, but any suggestions that would help me track this down and eliminate it would be appreciated.
I've looked through the choices on the NVIDIA control panel, and I don't find any hotkey options.

I want to disable the screen orientation hot keys. I have tried looking in the NVIDIA control panel, but I have not found the option in there yet.

- I am using an Asus Zenbook running windows 8.
- My computer runs both the intelHD graphics that is integrated into the i7 proccessor and a NVIDIA 650m.

In Firefox, how can I prevent pages from overriding Firefox built-in keyboard shortcuts through Javascript on a per-key basis? Preferably on a per-site basis, too? The most frustrating override is the forward slash ('/') that's linked to "Find in page". Sites like Google search results, Twitter timelines, some wikis, and other pages steal the slash key for their own search boxes, which is completely wrong.

Not a duplication of Disable [Windows]+[Space] hotkey in Windows 8
The question and answers in the link above talked about removing the input methods to stop switching of the methods. I differ because I want to KEEP the input methods. But remove/disable/prevent the [Windows]+[Space] hotkey for toggling them.
I have two Inputs Methods. (Two keyboard layouts in fact), The Standard UK layout, and created a second keyboard layout, I have called it ABC Layout, but its actually just a bunch extra symbols like copyright and a large number of other such symbols.
There is a Hotkey in windows 8.. Its [Windows]+[Space].. I would like to disable this.
This hotkey toggles between the two Inputs.. Sounds convenient, but it really is not. I don't know how or when, but it seems I sometimes hit this Hotkey without wanting to and end up with all sorts of gack on the screen if I am reading something off a second screen/paper.
I have gone into the logical location in the settings that deal with input and language control and the Hotkeys that deal with them. As you can see in the picture I had supplied, I have already removed the Hotkey for toggling [Please see image below], but Pressing [Windows]+[Space] still toggles the Input Mode.
It seems in Win8, they have these options, but then just ignore them and do whatever it wants
anyway as I have ALSO set language bar to be Hidden. But as you can clearly see in the screenshot, it's still there.

I've been using some software for a while that uses Win+S and I've gotten used to it. I've just recently started using OneNote 2010 and I find that it's hijacked the Win+S hotkey for doing screen clippings. Cool feature, but I'd rather reprogram OneNote to use a different letter. Otherwise I have to reprogram my brain.
I realize I can disable the OneNote system tray icon thing and that'll probably fix the problem, but I'd rather keep the other OneNote hotkeys (Win+N and Win+Shift+N), and wouldn't mind using the screen clipping with Win+C or something.
Digging through the options I didn't see any way to change this. Hopefully I'm missing something - otherwise, it's kinda arrogant of a software program to hijack a hotkey like that with no option of configuring it.

I recently started using a Kinesis Advantage with my MacBook and one of the things I've really missed since switching from my Apple keyboard is having the functionality of the OS X media keys.
I know the Advantage keyboards are pretty customisable but having Googled for quite a while I haven't been able to find any sources saying that it's possible to map the function keys on the Advantage to the appropriate OS X function.
Has anyone had any success in getting something like this to work? Any tips would be hugely appreciated.

Is there a hotkey to cycle through open windows in the order that they appear on the taskbar. This should switch windows without additional keypresses.
I know of win+T. This shortcut puts focus on the first taskbar icon and allows you to select and display a window with up/down/enter. I would ideally like something like Ctrl+Win+Down to immediately switch to the next window.
If not, then is there any way to enable this behaviour on a completely locked down PC where I cannot install software, run executables or edit the registry?

When I press Win+E in Windows 7 the explorer opens in the view which is called "This PC" in Windows 10. In Windows 10 instead the "Quick access" view is opened. Is there a possibility to access the "This PC" in Windows 10 quickly using only keyboard commands? I also like the "Quick access" view so I'm not so sure if I want to permanently set "This PC" to the default view when the explorer is opened? But is that even possible? What different possibilities are there?
