Marking all Google Voice messages as read

I have over 200 unread text messages and voice messages on Google Voice. How can I mark these all as read without having to do it one page at a time?

I tried pressing "select all" and then looking for a "select all conversations that matched instead" button (similar to what Gmail has), but there is no button like that.

Associate phone with multiple contacts?

In Google Voice/Gmail, I have 3 contacts (my family members) that share a home phone number. I currently have this number associated with a separate contact called Home so that it will show up that way on caller ID.

It seems to me, though that it would be better to have this number associated with the actual people who use it because that more accurately reflects reality. Is it possible to make this association in Google Contacts and still have the number show up as home on caller ID?

Google Voice: when viewing a voicemail, how can I tell which number was dialed?

Which carrier should I use for Google Voice?

Sometimes a website (e.g. Amazon) will ask for a mobile phone number so they can send you a text message (e.g. to track a shipment), but they also ask you which carrier you use (e.g. AT&T, Verizon, etc.).

If I want to give them my Google Voice number, which carrier should I specify?

As an example, Amazon provides the following options:

  • AT&T
  • Alltell
  • Boost
  • Cellular South
  • Cincinnati Bell
  • Midwest Wireless
  • Nextel Communications
  • Sprint PCS
  • T-Mobile
  • US Cellular
  • Verizon Wireless
  • Virgin Mobile

Note that you must choose one, this is not an optional field. If someone could explain why websites such as these even need your carrier information, that would help as well.

Is there a way to make phone calls from Gmail when the new hangouts is enabled?

Gmail currently provides free domestic calling for users in the US and Canada, directly in the Gmail interface. It uses the Google Video Chat plugin to allow voice calls to be made to regular phone numbers, and if you have a Google Voice account, integrates with that as well.

This feature used to be built right into the chat window:

As of the update for the new integrated version of Google Hangouts, I can't seem to find any button to place a phone call from within Gmail.

Furthermore, when I place a call from Google Voice and tell it to dial through Google Talk, the call doesn't go through.

Is there any way to use the new Hangouts while still having the phone call abilities?

Send/receive faxes through Google Voice without using a fax machine?

Once in a while I bump into an antiquated bureaucratic process that requires sending or receiving a fax. Back in the dialup days I was glad that I no longer needed a fax machine to send and receive faxes. However, I no longer have a land line so I end up having to pay an office supply store or a print shop for faxing services. Google Voice has been very useful for voice calls, however I was disappointed to find that it has no official support for sending or receiving faxes.

Here is some information that may help find a solution:

I know there are many sites that provide faxing services for a fee, however I want to consider solutions using Google Voice. I was starting to think of a virtual dialup modem that somehow used Google Voice, but would rather read your suggestions of an existing solution or a simpler approach.
