Any way to make adium fetch the complete conversation history for each open window?
Android and Gmail will both show you messages received while you were signed out, or signed into a different client. Adium only shows you messages received directly by the Adium client.

HI there,
I thought it is trival, but I could not get it to work even with loads of googling.
So, how do I add an jabber contact to my gtalk contact list? I tried in psi, pidgon and gmail, but the jabber account does not recieve my request for authorization.
What am I doing wrong?

In Adium, I have a non-Google XMPP account.
If I want to add an XMPP Contact that is @gmail.com, do I add them as an "XMPP" contact or a "GTalk" contact? It gives both options.
edit: figured it out, you can add as an XMPP contact.

Maybe pidgin can do it

Is it possible to disable ClearType in IE9b?
I know about Options->Advanced->Multimedia->"Always use ClearType in HTML" option, but that doesn't solve my problem.
btw, besides all web sites that are rendered with cleartype within IE (with Window set not tu use CT), problem is Google-Talk chat window which uses trident web engine and renders blurry text.

Are these IM clients compatible with Google Talk in terms of audio and video calls? I am asking this particular question due to problems arose upon initiating a video call from the Empathy client to Google Talk client. The connection is established but neither the video stream or the audio stream from the GTalk is available on both ends of the connection. I have not yet tried calling Empathy client user from GTalk and doubt that it will work.

Currently we are using Google Talk as messenger at our work place. Now we are supposed to replace it with some LAN based messenger. It should have at least following features chatting ( if logs are stored some where than it is good ), File sharing. Thanks.

I am unable to consistently get screen sharing in iChat to work. When I select an online buddy, under the Buddies menu the options "Share my screen with Bob" and "Ask to Share Bob's Screen" are disabled. Sometimes starting a chat with that person will enable the screen sharing but often not. Once its enabled it works fine but I have no idea what the key is to getting it enabled. It seems fairly random when it works. This is over the public internet using Google Talk. Both ends are running OSX 10.5.

I know that Pidgin has a video/audio plugin which I installed. But this doesn't seem to work with gtalk. I guess google doesn't support linux anymore?
What is happening is that when I attempt a call, I can see my self but not the other person (black screen) & the same for the other person (he can see himself but not me). Moreover audio doesn't work.
So does it work? & if so how?

I was using Pidgin as my IM software for Sametime and Google Talk.
I'm now switching back to using Sametime 7.5.1 (and Google Talk) separately.
Is there any way to import my chat history from Pigdin to Sametime?

I'm trying to install Google Chrome and Google Talk to a non-default location. How can I do this? My Googling suggested that the Pack installer can do it, but for me it didn't give any such functionality. I only have a tiny SSD and need to keep everything possible off the main drive, and I re-install Windows frequently and don't wish to have to re-download. In my previous installation Chrome ate up several hundred MB (!) and it really needs to go not on my SSD.

Anyone else having this problem? After turning on 2-factor authentication on my Google Account I stopped being able to log in through Adium (Mac IM client that uses Pidgin’s libpurple for IM). Obviously you need to generate an application-specific password but these won’t let me log in. Application specific passwords work with other applications (e.g. Reeder for feeds and calendering on my phone). Google specifically mention Adium in their examples of setting up an application password for Google Talk so I doubt it’s a generic Adium problem.
I can still access Google Talk for this account if I use a talk widget on a Google Website (Plus, or iGoogle for example).
My bug report to Adium including a connection log file is up on their Trac: http://trac.adium.im/ticket/15310 . No activity there though. I also asked around in their IRC channel but no-one else could replicate the problem.
If I had to guess then I’d think it was a consequence of me not having a GMail account associated with my Google account. I don’t see exactly why that would cause it, but it seems like a fairly unusual setup that might not have been tested for.
