How to exclude Google Photos from Google Drive searches?

When I perform searches I frequently receive a lot of results of photos in my searches. I would like to exclude these from my searches, how can I do this?

Is there a cheatsheet of sorts that show the various search options that exist for Google Drive?

How can I make my Google Photos accessible & searchable for the Creative Commons?

I want to add my photos to shared albums on Google Photos and have these accessible under a Creative Commons license. That is, other people should be able to find them when they perform a Google Search.

Make folders for albums in Google Photos

I have one question regarding Google Photos. I have photos organised in albums, e.g.: Album 1, Album2, Album3.

Is there any way to put them into some folders? For example:

Folder 1

  • Album 1
  • Album 2

Folder 2

  • Album 3

This would improve organisation of my Google Photos a lot.

Two-way sync with Google Photos?

I am using Google Photos and quite happy with it, including the option to automatically upload images from both my phone and my camera (via a computer). However, I am uncomfortable with all those precious photos being in just one place which I don't control. So my question is:

It there a possibility to sync the images in both directions, so that I always have a local copy of them all?

You could say that's a kind of reverse backup (perhaps a "backdown", or a "forwardup"?).

How to sort by name in a Google Photos Collection?

Since Google moved to the new system, I can't figure out how to organize pictures by name like it used to work.

https://photos.google.com/collections

I uploaded new pictures, put them in a new Collection… and now what? There's no item in the menu to sort pictures.

Does someone know? Google… didn't help.

Do photos under 16 megapixels still consume space when "Original Size" option is chosen?

The new Google Photos service supplies "Unlimited" space for photos 16 megapixels and under. However, if I choose to upload photos at "Original Size" that are already at or under 16 megapixels, will they fall into the "Unlimited" space category? Or will they consume my limited quota?

Deduplicate Google Photos photos

Is there an easy way to deduplicate Google Photos photos? All of the examples on Google are for Google + and/or Picasa.

EDIT: I'm not storing google photos in my google drive, because then they count against my google drive quota.

How to get the direct link to an image in my Google Photos?

I want to add an image stored in my Google Photos. How can I get the direct link to an image in my Google Photos? The links I copied are not direct.

Is there a way to create an album within an album on Google Photos?

I currently have my pictures organized into folders of varying depth (i.e. Pictures/College/Senior Year/ThinkChicago Trip).

It doesn't appear that I can keep this structure if I move my photos to Google Photos (i.e. Google Photos --> Albums --> All of the albums that you want, but only one layer deep, an album with a bunch of photos in it, not an album that contains other albums)

Looking for a good suggestion for a workaround for someone who is familiar with the capabilities - seems like something should exist?

Google Photos Faces filter does not appear

Google's help section regarding "Find faces" says:

  1. Go to photos.google.com/search.
  2. Under the People section, click a person's face to see photos that include similar faces. (If you don't see the person you're looking for, click MORE.)

When I go to the search section, I see "Places" and "Things" - no faces! And I'm sure I have faces, I used Google+ until now with plenty of face-tagging.

Which also brings up an interesting point - how do you face-tag in this new interface?

How does Google Photos handle duplicates?

I've installed Google Photos on my iPhone with the auto-backup feature.

I also have the possibility to install the backup feature on my Mac.

The problem is that iCloud syncs my iPhone pictures with my Mac. So I am afraid if I install Google Photos on my mac I'll have thousands of duplicates.

Is Google Photos smart enough to detect duplicates?

How to export photos and albums from Google Photos?

Do you know of a way to download photos and videos back from the new http://photos.google.com?

I was expecting at least some unofficial tools like Flickr downloader, but I couldn't find any.

I'm wary of using the service before I find out how to get data back in case of problems.

Can't tag people in Google Photos

I have began investigating Google Photos now that they offer unlimited free storage.

I have uploaded a handful of photos from my iPhone using the Google App. Now when I try to view photos, either through iOS or Web, I do not see an option for tagging faces.

How do you tag faces using the web front end for Google Photos?

How can I view Google Photos that are not in a Google Photos album?

  1. Go to Google Photos
  2. Add a few photos to a photo album
  3. Go back to All Photos

See all of the photos there, even ones you copied to the Album. No problem here, per se. At least not yet.

What if you want to delete photos that you did not copy to that album? Where is the selector or filter that filters those "in an album already" photos from this main view? Or is there a way to create such a filtered view such that I can then cherry-pick photos for deletion?

Easy way to move photos from Gmail attachment to Google Photos

Is there a more intuitive way to add an attachment from GMail (either standard or Inbox) to Google Photos than saving it into the Google Photos folder in Google Drive?
