I have text files on Google Drive that do not end with the .txt
suffix (such as: .r, .bas, .awk...).
I want to view them using the Drive Notepad app, but it does not recognize the files as text.
Is there a way I can get these files to be recognized as text?

I'm creating a large document (text, not presentation) in Google Docs, and I want to be able to link to other pages in the same document (like a pdf or #
in the url). So far all I've found is how to link to a doc from an outside source.
If it is possible to link in this way? If so, how?

I would like to be able to edit one of my Google Docs on another computer, save it online (not download it to that computer and upload it to Dropbox), and then be able to go back to my home computer and have the file already synced to my computer.
How do I automatically synchronize Google Docs with Dropbox?

How do I periodically backup my entire online documents in Google Docs? I am looking for a tool that can download the documents to my PC. I do not need any kind of two-way synchronization, just plain one-way backup.
(I am using Windows. Feel free to suggest options for other OSes too.)

I prefer Foxit Reader over Google Docs, but whenever I receive a PDF file over Gmail I have to either download it or view it in Google Docs.
Is there a script (or any other way) to open Gmail PDF files on my browser's standard PDF reader (Foxit) instead of Google Docs?
If it's relevant, I use Firefox and Windows.

I have access to a collaborative Google Docs document on which I would like to make notes in preparation for a meeting (I am not the document owner). I would like to avoid wasting paper, so I would prefer to put comments straight in Google Docs. However, I am just using these notes as reference for further discussion so I don't want anybody else to see them. The document may be changing so I would prefer not simply copying the document for my notes.
Is there any way make comments on a Google Docs document that only I can see? Is copying the document my only option.

On my iPhone there is a program called notemaster that lets me manage Google Docs right from my phone. But I was wondering if there is a similar app for the Mac?

Some time ago my Chrome started to open PDFs in Google Docs viewer. I don't really know if I did something to force this behaviour, but I would like to view it as I was before (using Foxit Reader plugin).
Every link to a pdf file is replaced by Chrome:
https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http://url.of.the.pdf
Have googled a bit but I can't find how to disable this 'feature'.

This feature is not officially suported by Google. Do you know if is there a way or a product that allows to synchronize the changes performed in excel into a google spread sheet?
- Create file in excel
- Upload it to gDocs
- Modify it in gDocs
- Download it to excel
- Modify it in excel
- Synchonize it with gDocs.
All of the above steps are supported but 6.

This question is about how to get fold-marks (very similar to this question) to your document in Google Docs. It would be very helpful. If it is not feasible per se are there any workarounds?

I'm currently using Google Docs, but when I try to use the keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl+Alt+M
it gives µ
instead.

Is Chrome (9) overruling Google Docs in some way?
How can I get these shortcuts working?
I'm using Chrome dev 9 on a Dutch Windows 7 with a US-layout keyboard

I am using Google Docs. I would like to have offline copies of my documents on my different machines—Mac, Windows and Linux—that are updated automatically. Do you know of any solution for this?

What kind of spreadsheets support a formula like the following:
=exchangeCurrency("USD"; "EUR"; 3000)
The result should be 3000 USD exchanged into Euros. Possibly a date could be provided for a historic exchange rate. Alternatively, the average for the last month or so.
I would use such a feature all the time and it has to be relevant for so many other users. I prefer working in Excel, but online spreadsheets like Google or Zoho is also fine.
