How do I get Google Drive to open text files with arbitrary extensions as text files?

I have text files on Google Drive that do not end with the .txt suffix (such as: .r, .bas, .awk...).
I want to view them using the Drive Notepad app, but it does not recognize the files as text.
Is there a way I can get these files to be recognized as text?

Can I link to another page in Google Docs? [closed]

I'm creating a large document (text, not presentation) in Google Docs, and I want to be able to link to other pages in the same document (like a pdf or # in the url). So far all I've found is how to link to a doc from an outside source.

If it is possible to link in this way? If so, how?

How do I automatically synchronize Google Docs with Dropbox?

I would like to be able to edit one of my Google Docs on another computer, save it online (not download it to that computer and upload it to Dropbox), and then be able to go back to my home computer and have the file already synced to my computer.

How do I automatically synchronize Google Docs with Dropbox?

Google Docs: How to backup periodically?

How do I periodically backup my entire online documents in Google Docs? I am looking for a tool that can download the documents to my PC. I do not need any kind of two-way synchronization, just plain one-way backup.

(I am using Windows. Feel free to suggest options for other OSes too.)

How to use your PDF reader instead of Google Docs in Gmail?

I prefer Foxit Reader over Google Docs, but whenever I receive a PDF file over Gmail I have to either download it or view it in Google Docs.

Is there a script (or any other way) to open Gmail PDF files on my browser's standard PDF reader (Foxit) instead of Google Docs?

If it's relevant, I use Firefox and Windows.

Google Docs Document Private Comment

I have access to a collaborative Google Docs document on which I would like to make notes in preparation for a meeting (I am not the document owner). I would like to avoid wasting paper, so I would prefer to put comments straight in Google Docs. However, I am just using these notes as reference for further discussion so I don't want anybody else to see them. The document may be changing so I would prefer not simply copying the document for my notes.

Is there any way make comments on a Google Docs document that only I can see? Is copying the document my only option.

Stop Chrome from opening pdfs in Google Docs Viewer

Some time ago my Chrome started to open PDFs in Google Docs viewer. I don't really know if I did something to force this behaviour, but I would like to view it as I was before (using Foxit Reader plugin).

Every link to a pdf file is replaced by Chrome: https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http://url.of.the.pdf

Have googled a bit but I can't find how to disable this 'feature'.

Formula for updated currency exchange rates in Excel or other spreadsheets?

What kind of spreadsheets support a formula like the following:

=exchangeCurrency("USD"; "EUR"; 3000)

The result should be 3000 USD exchanged into Euros. Possibly a date could be provided for a historic exchange rate. Alternatively, the average for the last month or so.

I would use such a feature all the time and it has to be relevant for so many other users. I prefer working in Excel, but online spreadsheets like Google or Zoho is also fine.
