How can I use google calendar with Windows Live Mail?

I'm currently trying to integrate my google calendar into Windows Live Mail.

What I have so far: I went online to the hotmail calendar and subscribed there per iCal to the google calendar. It gets added and displayed properly in Windows Live Mail, but I cannot add new entries.

Any ideas?

Disable auto creation of birthday events for contacts in Outlook 2010

Does anyone know how to disable the creation of birthday events in Outlook 2010?

I have two computers and one mobile which all sync through a Google Mail account. After syncing the contacts, each Outlook instance creates a birthday event for that contact, so I end up with two birthday reminders.

Is it possible to tell one of the PCs not to enter birthdays into the calendar?

Sync google calendar and contacts with Outlook 10

I use a google accounts for mail/contacts/calendar. I use Outlook 2010 on my desktop and an iphone. Iphone syncs calendar/contacts/mail via what I presume is faux exchange mechanism, anyway it works.

Mail obviously works in Outlook using IMAP. I used to get calendar sync using google calendar sync - however this does not support Outlook 2010. Given this is something Google have been alerted to since 2009 - I presume they have no plans to fix it.

Is there a solution here? Can I make Outlook 2010 sync in a similair way to how my iphone works (using m.gmail.com ?). Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Can't set calendar reminder in Thunderbird

I am using the Provider for Google Calendar add on to add my Google calendars into the Lightning calendar add on for Thunderbird. I am able to setup reminders for calendar events that I create, but if someone invites me to an event I am not able to add a reminder. Does anybody know how to do this? I can add the reminder on the web version of Google calendar, but that setting doesn't sync to Thunderbird.

Google Calendar erroneously identifies Opera as mobile

I am a happy user of Google Calendar across different machines, browsers. However, when I am working with Opera 12.16 on my Ubuntu 12.04 machine, opening Google Calendar will automatically select the mobile version of the calendar, which is annoying.

How can I fix this problem? Is this an identification issue? GMail and Google Search just show up normal.

Only the main calendar from my Google Account syncs to the Calendar app

I have a Google Account with two calendars:
Multiple Google Account calendars

In the Calendar app that comes with Windows, only the default one (Louis) syncs.

I've tried to check the settings on https://m.google.com/sync/settings/iconfig/ (I believe you can spoof your browser to an iOS device to see this page correctly) but the calendars don't appear where they normally would (for an iOS, or Windows Phone device for example).

How can I sync the second calendar?

How can I synchronise my Outlook Calendar with Google Calendar (preferably using a free/open source tool)? [closed]

How can I synchronise my desktop Outlook calendar with my Google Calendar (Outlook -> Google)?

I saw the question Free tool for Synchronizing Google Contacts and Calendar with Outlook, but the solution that was suggested there is no longer available - Google Sync End of Life.

There are tools that required a payment, like SyncMyCal, gSyncit and OggSync, but I am looking for a free / open source solution.

One can download Google sync, but when trying to use it there's an error:

Enter image description here

For now, I use OggSync to synchronise, but as a freeware it allows to synchronise manually only, not automatically, so I have to remember to synchronise after every change.

I checked Mozilla Sunbird, but I couldn't find any relative posts on how to synchronise Outlook -> Google using it.

Just to be clear: I'm not looking for software; I am looking for a solution. What can I do if sometimes software is a solution?

Accept and Decline button missing in thunderbird when receiving an invitation

I'm using Thunderbird 12.0.1 with the following add-ons for the calendar:

  • Lightning 1.4
  • Provider for Google calendar 0.9

I'm working with Ubuntu 12.04

When I receive an event invitation from Outlook or Gmail, the mail is correctly identified by Thunderbird (I have the message "this message contains an invitation to an event"). In the pretty little box in the mail (the one which contains all the details), there is no "Accept" or "Decline" button.

I found on the Lightning forum that this bug was fixed in Lightning V.1.0b2.

So, why am I still experiencing this bug?

Automatically open ICS files in Google Calendar

Lots of web sites have an option to export events as an ICS file that can then be imported into a desktop or web-based calendar (for example if you're invited to a Facebook event there will be an export button that gives you an ICS file).

By default in Firefox 3.5 on Vista I'm only offered three options here "Open with Windows Calendar", "Open with Other" or "Save File", so what I'd do is save the file onto my PC, and then log into Google Calendar and import that ICS file.

What I'd like is to have an "Open with Google Calendar" or "Import to Google Calendar" type option when I click the Export link.

I know that you can configure Firefox to send mailto: links to GMail, and I've got the Operator extension installed that will detect hCalendar microformat entries embedded in the text and offer to import them to Google Calendar, but I can't work out how to configure either of these to do what I need.

Preferably I'd do this without installing any additional software, and in a way that will work with a Google Apps account (but if someone can point toward a solution for normal Google Calendar's that would be a good start).

Synchronizing Lotus Notes Calendar with Google Calendar

I am working at a client where Lotus Notes is used. How do I synchronize the Notes calendar (Lotus Notes 7) with Google Calendar or directly with my iPhone 3GS?

I don't need to synchronize the emails, the calendar entries and tasks are sufficient.

I searched for solutions but couldn't find any proper ones. Preferably, the synchronization would be automatic on a regular basis but it's also OK if I have to trigger it manually. Please do not suggest solutions involving Outlook since I cannot install that here.
