How do I show only categories with unread items in the feedly sidebar?

Because of the announced shutdown of Google Reader, I'm giving feedly a try. It seems okay, but one thing that really pains me after linking it to Reader is that lots of categories are showing even if they have no unread items in them.
In Google Reader, I had over a 100 categories, but I set it to only display the ones that had unread items in them.

Feedly shows all of these categories in non-alphabetical order, which feels extremely cluttered. Is there some way to fix this?

Use Feedly without Pinterest

When I use Feedly on Chrome, it keeps popping up Pinterest login dialogs. This happens when I click on Flickr photos within the Feedly view, and seemingly also at random intervals when scrolling past items in Feedly (using a Mac touchpad). Is this something that can be disabled?

Save new emails/feed items to Pocket automatically

The Situation

I've subscribed to some newsletters. These newsletters/issues come out on a weekly or daily basis. I'm able to receive most of these newsletters via Email and all via RSS. I want to save them automatically to Pocket.

Newsletters/Feed items to add

  • Web Design Weekly
  • Responsive Design Weekly
  • CSS Weekly
  • Sidebar.io
  • The Pastry Box Project (only RSS)
  • Musigh (only RSS)

1. Pocket: direct integration into Email services/feed readers

  • Google Reader and Feedly both have a button to save a new item to Pocket – but I don't see a possibility there
  • Such a button doesn't exist for Email services according to the guys from Pocket (Source)

2. Using IFTTT & Gmail channel

Pocket can add the first link it finds inside an email.

  • if new email labeled "newsletter" then Save Body Plain to Pocket
  • if new email labeled "newsletter" then Send Body Plain as Email to add@getpocket.com

3. Using IFTTT & Feed channel

This requires creating a recipe for any feed.

  • if new feed item from specified feed url then Save Entry URL to Pocket

Pocket and RSS Reader. Is there a better way?

I'm a Newsify user (via a lifeboat from Google Reader). I also use Pocket to send things to my feeds to read them later. The problem is that such things turn up like this:

Rather than this:

enter image description here

Which is a pain for offline viewing. (To be clear, it's the words that I'm missing, I could live without the images) Is there a better way? I'm happy to switch from Pocket to a more suitable service... I'd just like things to turn up. I'd be happy with a halfway solution, something that just worked on things that already supported RSS.

Is there a way to remove the unread count in Feedly?

I don't like having numbers showing me posts that have not been read, leisure reading suddenly starts looking like a task.
Is there a way to remove the number from the post, I don't mind the dot that says that there are new items.

Running Feedly without installing app in browser

I have no access to app store (Google Chrome) at work and just wondering is there any way to run feedly as a simple site, like Google Reader used to be.

Why isn't feedly updating content from my RSS feed?

So for some strange reason, the feedly feed for https://www.quora.com/Alex-K-Chen/rss hasn't updated for 30 days, and I'm not sure why. The regular rss feed URL is still being updated at regular intervals.

Receive weekly email digest from feedly?

Is it really necessary to have a paid subscription and then take the step of using an IFTTT recipe in order to get your feeds into your inbox?

It seems pretty core to be able to receive a weekly digest of the activity in your feeds (in fact I had sort of expected Feedly to just volunteer this without me even asking since so many other companies love to send out email as early as possible to a new signup)

Accept and Cancel buttons are disabled in Google "Request for Permission" window

When I try to log in to Feedly on a specific computer using my Google account, the normal "Request for Permission" window opens, but the buttons are disabled. What can be the reason and is there any workaround? I can log into StackExchange from the same Google account on the same computer.

Multiple entries shown for Feedly in "Connected Sites, Apps, and Services" in my Google account

I have a Feedly account to which I login via my Google account.

In my Connected Sites, Apps, and Services for Google I see multiple entries for Feedly. I tried revoking access to all of them but one, but after some logins (to Feedly) it again shows up multiple entries.

In my case at max I have seen 6 entries of Feedly. What is the reason for this?

Feedly in Google account's Connected Sites, Apps, and Services

Also every time Feedly asks me for permission to access my Google account information, which I grant. But this does not happen with other accounts like StackOverflow.

In Feedly, how do I set the feed filters to have 'Unread Only' unchecked by default?

When I view a feed in Feedly, the 'Unread Only' filter is checked by default for all feeds. I have to manually go to the gear icon (Change Layout and Filtering) and uncheck 'Unread Only' for each feed that I view.

'Unread Only' filter

Feedly remembers the setting for each individual feed, but I would like to set 'Unread Only' as unchecked by default, for all feeds.

I would like to set Feedly to be the same as Google Reader where viewing a feed will also show already read feeds, by default, for all feeds that I view. This is so I wouldn't have to manually set each feed's filters to 'Unread Only'.

How do I add a RSS feed to Google Reader or Feedly? [closed]

I'm trying to configure Google Reader/Feedly to track JavaWorld articles. JavaWorld offers many different RSS feeds. I'd like to subscribe to Core Java, but I cannot find/add this feed to Google Reader.

Feedly - how do you make the left sidebar permanently show?

In the Chrome version of Feedly, the left sidebar auto-hides. I've spent the last 25 minutes attempting to make it stay open permanently (like it does in all the screenshots of Feedly), but I cannot. So every time I want to see something, esepcially in a nested folder, I need to manually move your mouse and click several times.

There must be something I'm missing >.<
