Sending emails in Pine (Alpine) with underline, emphasis

I would like to send emails via Pine (Alpine) but with correct style usage, for instance, underlining book names, etc. How can I create emails in Pine using underline, emphasis, etc. (This can include a variety of receivers of such emails ranging from other Pine users to Outlook to Gmail).

What is an e-mail client?

What is an e-mail client? Why might I need one? If I am sending e-mail, I log on to my service provider (e.g. Yahoo!) directly. Where does an e-mail client fit in in this scenario?

Is there a simple way to synchronize Thunderbird across machines?

I love Firefox Sync. Is there a similar way to synchronise Thunderbird?

I want to synchronise account settings, filters and address books. I never download e-mails, so this isn't an issue. There is no need to synchronise addons (I don't use Lightning or similar). I don't want an import, but a real synchronisation which reflects a change on all other associated Thunderbird installations. Is there a way to do this (whether automatic or with some tweaking)?

Maximum capacity of a Thunderbird account?

I know someone who has lots of emails in a Thunderbird account. One day Thunderbird stopped receiving emails and asks the user to either delete or compress old emails to make more space. Unfortunately, due to the large number of incoming emails Thunderbird got "full" again.

So, is there a cap on the size of a Thunderbird account? Is there a way to lift the cap? There is still a lot of room left on the hard drive.

Windows 8’s Mail application does not support TLS/STARTTLS for IMAP accounts?

The built-in Mail application does not seem to support TLS using STARTTLS for IMAP on standard IMAP port 143. This is the only option my email server offers, and it works for every other email client I have ever used.

In the UI there is an option called SSL that insist on using the legacy port 993.

Can someone confirm this?

Any hope for us STARTTLS users?

Can I make a shortcut to Send Outlook Email from Template?

Using the information provided here, I was able to successfully create an email template and send a message using this template.

However, using this template is quite cumbersome - one must go to New Items->More Items->Choose Form...->Change "Look In" path to User Templates In File System->Open.

It's almost faster to just "Forward" a sent email and delete the extraneous forwarding metadata. Can anyone please tell me how to speed this up?

Unix mail command: Sort by newest first

When I use the "mail" command, it prints a list of messages in my inbox in a format like this: 1 Super User Mon Jun 9 17:13 86/4716 Complete Registration With Stack Exchange However I've noticed that it does this with the oldest messages first. Is there a way to change this behaviour?

How is Thunderbird protecting my privacy?

For emails that have pictures, Thunderbird doesn't display the pictures, saying that it's protecting my privacy.

How is it protecting my privacy by not displaying pictures? Pictures are things I am receiving, not sending.

Email client for Linux which can store GPG messages decrypted

Is there any graphical email client for Linux which can store GPG messages decrypted? I have tried Thunderbird with Enigmail and Evolution but if I'm right none of them support this.

(I know that this is somehow a security hole. The mailbox would be on an encrypted drive.)

Windows 10 default mail app - how to mark all unread as read?

Trying to enjoy Windows 10 on my ElitePad 900 tablet. Have been searching for this and have not found any solution. So the idea is to mark all unread mails as read ones. Is there a shortcut key or something?

Is it possible to edit the "pick a new color" values in Outlook?

In Outlook I'm a fan of the "Pick a new color when replying or forwarding" option, as each reply getting its own color helps me with tracking/rereading complex conversations.

The one thing I don't like is the pool of colors it uses -- some aren't very readable, and others don't carry a professional look. Is there a way (via editing registry keys or otherwise) to customize the pool of colors Outlook uses for this?

The feature in question is pointed out below:

How can I graph the # of emails I receive per day

Ideally I'd like to do this in Outlook.

I'd like to find a way to look at the # of emails I get in my inbox for each day. This does not have to be real time.

Is there a way to get mail from /var/mail in a different client?

Many Linux systems store mail for users in /var/mail. Is there some way I can fetch that mail using my preferred email client?

(I use Apple Mail on OS X Lion, but if there's way to do this that works for most clients, please post that—it'll be useful to more people. ^^ )

Is it possible to perform a HTTP POST from a HTML email?

If I receive an email in any email client be it Outlook, GMail, etc and the email contains a link to a website, is it possible to perform a POST request to the website as opposed to a GET request?

Script ThunderBird filters

Is it possible to write your own filters for Thunderbird, I don't care what language is used.

I want to be able to do a full analysis of the email (headers and text) and take certain actions based on the content.

Bonus points if I'm able to compare the current email with older received messages (mainly to remove duplicate log messages)
