How to schedule a download only to start at a particular time?

Our Satellite internet provider gives us "unlimited browsing" between 11pm and 7pm. As we have a very limited bandwidth in the day and the download is reasonably large, other than staying up late is there any way I could schedule the download as to only start at 11pm? I was thinking a PowerShell command might be possible (but I have no idea how to achieve this) or maybe a GUI alternative.

I have tried Windows Task Scheduler but although I could get the browser to open I didn't know how I could make the download start itself.

I am running Windows 8.1

Download manager to replace GetRight? [closed]

I've been happily using GetRight for the last 10 years or so, and today I found out (the bad way) that it won't work in Windows 2008 64-bit.

What is a good modern alternative that'll pretty much do the same thing? I'm looking for:

  • Being able to pause/resume
  • Being able to specify many download streams at the same time (with/without mirrors)
  • Being able to just give it a URL to download (I'd prefer if it doesn't interfere with browser's native handling of downloads)

Thanks!

What is a good download manager with a timer feature? [closed]

I live in South Africa where bandwidth is cheaper between midnight and 5am. Is there a good download manager that you can set to start downloading at a specific time? Preferably for use on Windows 7 64bit

Thanks!

Download Manager for Mac OS X? [closed]

IS there a download manager for Mac OS X that allows me to interrupt and resume large downloads? (I'm trying to download the Apple Developer Tools update, but a 3+ GB file size seldom plays nicely with my internet connection.

EDIT:

I prefer a free solution if possible.

EDIT2:

I need it to be able to download from the Apple Developer site, which requires authentication. The downloads there are huge - my bandwidth isn't. Using Folx and authentication, I successfully downloaded ... drumroll please ... an intermediate HTML file.

Problem downloading youtube videos using Free Download Manager

Free Download Manager (FDM) claims to be able to download flash videos from various sites including Youtube.

I follow the directions given here to download Youtube videos. The only thing FDM downloads is the html file with the name watch.

How can I make FDM to download Youtube videos?

How does a program like IDM (internet download manager) work?

By this I do not mean that it opens multiple connections. I am more interested in how it monitors the browser's activity and recognizes when a file is available for download (a music file, or a video, or whatever).

Is this something that it adds to the browser? Is it somehow scanning all traffic that is going to the PC? Is it acting as a kind of proxy?

Does Chrome's download manager "pause" feature really work?

I am trying to download a large file with Chrome for Mac. The internet here is spotty. Sometimes the Internet goes down, or I need to pause the download.

I've never really succeeded to resume a download. Sometimes it openly fails, sometimes it seems as if it's working, but after 20 minutes it's at the same spot.

So, does the "pause" feature really work? Do those 3rd party download managers work?

Reset Chrome download manager to default

As backstory: I installed fileserve manager to help me download files from fileserve, and was rather annoyed to put it lightly that it became the default download manager for all downloads in Chrome. I was more annoyed that the option to remove it (via fileserve options) didn't work. So I tried to remove it by disabling the plugin that fileserve had installed. No dice.

I ended up removing the program entirely, and hoping, and it worked, but it did bother me that there did not seem to be a way in chrome to reset the download manager to the default. Is there a way to do that / see what it is currently set as?

Windows 7, using Chrome 13 Dev (but bug was also under 11 (stable))

A good multithread downloads manager for Linux? [closed]

Does someone knows a good multithread downloads manager for linux? I am using Lucid Lynx, I use to use multiget but it hasn't been updated since 2007.

I'd like it to support login for sites like rapidshare, something like FlashGet in win.

By multithread I dont only mean multiple downloads but like FlashGet "Jets" feature to download files faster.

Using a download manager to download from an MSDN subscription

I'm an MSDN subscriber and I'd like to download a large file from there (~3.5 GB).

  • Downloading straight from FireFox is problematic as it would stop after a few hundred megabytes.
  • Downloading from IE10 and Chrome is too slow.
  • There's supposed to be an automatic ActiveX "Akamai Download Manager" for MSDN downloads but apparently it isn't configured for this download (the ActiveX pane never pops up, even after the steps here).

I tried using FlashGot to route it to FDM (Free Download Manager) but I get:

Access denied. Invalid user name or password

I tried setting my MSDN user/pass in the download properties, to no avail. Is there some way to get this to work in a decent download manager (doesn't have to be FDM)?
