Is there a way to set two different background pictures for my two monitors in Windows 7?
By default the same background picture is used for both displays. I am looking for a solution without installing extra software.

A cat slept on the keyboard and all my desktop icons are now looking like in the picture : Three lines of text description to the right of the image. How can I fix it to see the normal behavior ( one line below the picture) ?
Edit: Ctrl + Mouse Wheel doesn't help

Is there a way to change the desktop wallpaper in Windows 7 Starter Edition? I wanted to do that on my new netbook, just to find out that there is no "Customize" option in the control panel. Microsoft obviously wants to keep the netbook users rather rigidly from customizing their machines.
It isn't even possible to edit the picture itself in the C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Windows\ directory, due to lack of rights. From what I can tell only the user "Trusted Installer" would have enough rights to do so...

I think the size of the titlebars and the titlebar text are too large in Windows 8/8.1 and Windows 10.
Also, the window border padding cannot be adjusted like it could in Vista and Windows 7, as the dialogue box to do this has been removed.
Is there anything I can do to make them smaller?

I have 2 monitors. when I lock my screen via win+L, it turns 1 of them off/black, and the other one is the win 7 login screen.
I would like to keep my current wallpaper as the background and on the two monitors if possible when the pc is locked.

I have an ASUS laptop, a G75V model. It has 16GB Ram, 2TB of HD space, and a 2GB 660M video card. It is also a 17" LCD at 1080 DPI resolution. It has an Intel i7 processor in it. So what I think I am asking is quite possible with the system I have in my possession.
In Windows there is a way to make your screensaver appear to be your desktop wallpaper, without actually being it.
Using this command in the command prompt. scrnsvr.scr /p65802 your screensaver of choice will overlap your desktop, but not become it.
In OS X, it is very simple to make your screensaver override your desktop wallpaper by typing this in your terminal:
/System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework/Resources/ScreenSaverEngine.app/Contents/MacOS/ScreenSaverEngine -background
In Windows it seems to be impossible...
Without using a 3rd party application, is there actually a way to make your screensaver into the actual wallpaper?

What I don't want to do though is buy the app just to trick the OS to do what it seems to be able to do naturally with a purchase of an app, does this make any sense to anyone?

How can I wallpaper multiple monitors in Linux in an automated way?
Basically how I normally do it is open up GIMP, and then grab several images and composite it together into a single large image that would span all monitors. This approach works, but it can be time consuming so I am wondering if there exists an application that can take care of this?
Some features that I would be interested in:
- Can resize a single image to cover both monitor for example.
- Different way of resizing the image, such as keeping the aspect ratio or not
- Composite more than 1 image together so that one screen will display one image and the other screen will display another image
- I'm using xinerama (Really Nvidia Twinview)
Have the ability to do some basic modification to the image such as:
- Crop one or the other image so that the whole image will fill the screen
- Ability to move the image around so it can get aligned
- Would be nice to be able to scale each image separately
I've done some searching and in general what I found was:
- Single image as wallpaper stretched cross two screen
- Two image, one for each screen but no ability to modify the image/etc
- Couple others, but basically most that I found were not able to use multiple images with one image on each desktop and independently modify each image to fit/work on that screen, and also unable to switch between single image stretched cross all screen or multiple images.

I'd like to be able to have very ambient and persistent access to a web page.
One idea would be to set the web page as my wallpaper.
On Windows this would be easy enough, by setting an Active Desktop, but how would you go about it on a Mac.
If it is not possible, what would suggest as an alternative?

On school computers, I can log in with a user account stored on the school network (something like that, I have no experience in networking and this sort of stuff).
Everything is fine and dandy and totally works as it should, but there is one thing that I find annoying.
Apparently for some reason I can't change my background to anything more than a couple of different solid colors with our school's logo still stuck in the middle. (the original background is a white logo on black background. If I change it to a different color, the central 6x6 inch black/white logo still remains, only the surrounding color is changed.) It may have been set by school administrators or something, I don't really know. I've tried to set it to something else (a picture, etc.) multiple times to no success.
I'm asking since I don't know much about group policy or anything and just why this is the case. If it's something about the school not wanting me to change the background I won't.
I find this really ugly. Is there any way to change a setting so that I can set the background to any picture I wish? (like on a home PC...)

I've checked the previous question here, but unfortunately:
- DeskPin mostly doesn't work since Windows 8, and it still doesn't work in Windows 10
- PowerMenu hasn't been updated since 2002, and does not seem to work in Windows 10
- AutoHotKey and AlwaysOnTopMaker requires a keyboard, there is no visual indication that a window is marked as Always on Top or not
I found a program called TurboTop that can do this from system tray, but in Windows 10, TurboTop list all programs that is not even running in its list, twice. It is a mess.
WindowPinner does it better, but it still include not running programs in the list.
Is there any solution that work GUI way without requiring keyboard, like long pressing/right click on title bar and select Always on Top? If you're used to Ubuntu Linux you know this functionality.

Having recently upgraded to Windows 8, my script to retrieve the current desktop wallpaper image has broken.
For Windows 7, How could I find out the path to the current desktop image?, this works great. However, that registry key now always contains
C:\Windows\web\wallpaper\Windows\img0.jpg
What is the new registry key used for Windows 8?
I've found two possible solutions.
Firstly, this key contains what looks like a Base64 encoded path:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Wallpapers\Images\ID2
And then there is the "custom theme properties file" which also contains a "[SlideShow]" section which looks like Base64:
C:\Users\Scott\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\Custom.theme

I like the look of Windows XP, and Windows 7, and like the round corners of the windows of the apps. Windows 10 seems to take a step to remove them and make it 90 degree corners.
Are there ways to bring back the round corners on Windows 10?
