Magento Admin 404

We recently migrated our Multi-domain magento setup from a shared host to a dedicated server.

All is working fine fronted, but when I try to go to the admin section I get a 404 error on anything after login.

It seems to work if I remove index.php from the url but then as soon as I click on another link in the admin section it 404's again with the index.php back in the URL.

Run two different Rails application on one dedicated server

I have one dedicated server with below configurations

i3 - Dual Core - 3.06Ghz H/T
16GB RAM
500GB SATA2

Now I want to execute two different Rails application on one dedicated server. A both application are different but they are using common database.

Is it possible to do that? If yes – How can I do that? Is Phusion Passenger with Apache a good approach? If yes - How can I configure two application with one Phusion Passenger server?

Dedicated Servers versus Amazon EC2

What are the pros and cons of using dedicated servers versus Aamzon EC2 for hosting a high traffic website - that has about 2 million visitors and 5 million page views a month. The content is mostly dynamic and served from a database. Does anyone has any experience of the costs and performance for such a setup.

How to create or edit file content on root

I have one website, not i want when i upload this site on live server it should ask for database username, password, site url..etc. Something like website installer. It is working fine in LOCAL system.

Now my problem is: i need to change RewriteBase in .htaccess file. But this file is located at root of site. So i am getting permission issue to create new file or edit/copy file which is located at root.

Warning: rename(generate.htaccess,.htaccess): Permission denied

Warning: copy(.htaccess): failed to open stream: Permission denied

What should i do. Please help.

resolving index.php issue at url laravel htaccess

I know this question is asked alot and there are alot of answers on "how to resolve index.php issue in laravel".

However, I tried multiple ways in order to solve it from .htaccess on live dedicated server with WebsitePanel in order to remove index.php from URL. I tried a couple of ways however let me describe the issue here, index.php not only have changed the url, but also some of the css and javascript stuff are not loaded as well while most of them are loaded, CSS seems pretty fine but fonts are also changed.

It was working well at a shared host but here in a dedicated host it has alot of problems.

Is there a .htaccess code to solve this issue? and does index.php affects on CSS and is it normal?

PHP high server cpu load with Wordpress on a dedicated server

I'm runing two blogs on a dedicated servers, one with 500 unique visitors per day and the other one with 18.000 unique visitors per day, in the cPanel I see the PHP is going up to 99% of CPU load and I have tried many things but nothing solves the load.

The server turns slow with 250 people online, with 500 start the db connection problems and of course the site turns too slowwwwwwwwwww.

I've also tried to deactivate all plugins but seems any of them is the problem.

PHP Cron Job on 1and1.com Dedicated Server

I have a dedicated server at 1and1.com using Parallels Plex Panel which I set up with standard settings. I am trying to get the following file to run once a day:

httpdocs/www/routine.php (where httpdocs is the root of my website)

When I input this path in the Command field in their Scheduled Tasks panel, I get a "Permission denied" error. This is not a protected directory and the file runs perfectly from the web.

I have tried many other variations of the command based on things I have found online and info I have found when running phpinfo(). None of the following have worked (see below).

Has anyone here had similar issues at 1and1? What do I need to input into the command field to make this run? Is there a standard formula based on the phpinfo results? 1and1 is refusing to help.

Mod Security - Body Request Length Too Long? [closed]

I have a file uploading site and am getting this error when trying to upload files larger than 400MB. Does anyone know where I can set this value? I also have ModSecurity Disabled for this account so I don't know why MS is catching this in the first place!

"Request body (Content-Length) is larger than the configured limit" - Anyone know where I can change the configuration limit?

postgresql.conf optimization

My postgresql server is extremely slow. Especially when I execute several queries at the same time in different threads, which somtimes causes the postgresql server to be unresponsive for 5 to 15 seconds. I wonder if I made a mistake in the postgresql.conf.

My dedicated server has 2 cores and 4 gb of ram, and a standard SATA-2 disk. There are 6gb of data in the postgres db (version 8.4) and a few hundred users simultaneously connected. I'm using JDBC to access postgress, running 1 to 10 simultaneous threads accessing the database. My server is a debian lenny. The Cpu is not used at 100%, neither is the memory.

Azure Virtual Machine vs dedicated server

I need to provide a desktop application up to 10 users. This application is a ERP, basically database mining and reporting. I will use Windows Server to offer support to concurrent users via Remote Desktop Connection.

Do somebody have experience comparing the performance between Azure Virtual Machine and a dedicated server?

At the present, I use Azure, but changing the settings to a powerful machine does not seem to affect to the time to generate reports, specially when the application needs to read the database or load the dlls for first .

MySQL daemon refuses to start with "Can't start server: Bind on TCP/IP port: Address already in use" (it's not). [closed]

Okay guys, I'm ready to bloody give up on this thing, I think I'm almost there though, just one last error, the server starts up fine, but then it fails saying that the bind on TCP/IP port already in use :S Which is not true, as mysql is not running :(

Where is httpd.conf file of a domain? (Plesk, Apache, CentOS, Dedicated Server.)

I'm trying to disable access logging (access_log) for domains. I can't find a way to do it yet, I thought if httpd.conf file exist of a domain maybe I can look into that. So do you know where is httpd.conf file of a domain?

Securing a dedicated server

We are building a first person shooter and we want to give out a dedicated server program. The only problem is that we have a leveling system and we don't want people to hack our dedicated servers and level themselves up. The way it is set up now is that the dedicated server connects to our main servers and report kills and such which we record to their profiles. So I guess my question is how do we check to make sure that the dedicated servers have not been altered when they connect to our main servers? Does that make sense?
