prevent connector routing when elements placed on top of them in MS Visio 2007

Is there any chance to prevent MS Visio (preferably 2010) connectors from routing when a text block is placed on top of it? I want to achieve the effect as if the text block is on the upper layer, above the shapes and connectors, but that the layers are completely separate (not affecting each other's layout).

Is that possible?

I'd like to change the default properties of the connector tool in Visio from right-angled lines with an arrow head to curved lines without arrows at either end. Can this be done? If so, how?

Will a VGA monitor work if connected to 9-pin serial port?

I have a (old) computer that I am trying to use, just for giggles. It has a 9-pin (RS-232) output for the monitor (marked 10101). Can I connect it to my VGA monitor using an adapter?

What is this port/connector on my laptop?

I have this port on my laptop and I have no idea what is it used for. It's not even listen in the laptop technical specifications. The laptop is a HP Pavillion dv5-1101en.

My computer has a loose USB port, what should I do?

My computer has a USB port that appears to be too loose, with attached devices exhibiting too much play where the USB plug is inserted into the port. The port still works, as devices continue to communicate correctly when attached to this port. The port itself is tightly attached to the computer chassis. Should I attempt to tighten the port? Is it at risk of eventually failing?

Sound output connector on CD-ROM drive?

My old CD reader has a volume knob and a minijack socket on the front. On the back it has the regular stuff (IDE interface, Molex power) plus a digital sound connector (DG) and an analog sound connector (RGGL). Is there a specific cable meant for connecting the digital or analog sound output to my motherboard, or do I have to solder one myself?

The CD-ROM drive is a Lite-On LTN-486 and has the ability play CDs and output the sound without communicating with a computer.

What kind of cable/connector is this? It looks like an HDMI connector, with very similar pins, but it has a slanted edge on only one side and the other side is square.

Why are there so many pins on a SATA power connector?

I was just looking at the power connector for a SATA optical drive and noticed that it had fifteen pins!

I then marveled at the data connector next to it, which has a measly seven pins.

I know that there are only physically three pins needed for the power connection:

• +12v DC
• +5v DC
• Ground

Why did they decide to use a fifteen-pin power connector that's twice the width of the data connector?

I was tinkering with my PC yesterday and now I'm wondering about these things. Not that it really matters to me, I'm just curious.

HD Audio or AC97 connector - Which to use when, and what's the difference?

I'm currently setting up a older system in a new case (i'll be upgrading it in stages, and the old parts then go back into the old case ;p), and i'm having a bit of confusion over which cable to use, and what the difference is.

The cable looks somewhat like this , with the AC 97 connector attached to the HD audio connector. They both appear to have the same kind of connector (right down to the 'key' - the space where there's no pin and its filled up), apparently the same colour codes at close inspection and so on.

What's the difference between these cables, and when do i know what to use? In my case the sound chip is a ALC888 but i'm more interested in a generic, all purpose answer, rather than one specific to this. The header on the system itself is marked 'Audio'.

If more specific information is needed, i've put the motherboard from a dell 530 into a cosair graphite 600T, just to test the case pending the rest of my hardware.

UPDATE: Based on Steve Rindsberg's answer I did this: Draw a rectangle, then a second one. Make the second rectangle very small and move it over, then behind the first rectangle. Then group them. I guess this is actually a functioning workaround for my question, even though it is not what I wanted to hear. Accepting the answer...

Would this short circuit?

My computer case has a built in fan which uses a Molex 8981 connection for power, but before reaching the fan, the wires split to form another male molex connector.

My problem is that if I was to use the male Molex connection, surely it would short circuit the fan or vice versa? If not why?

Is this AC power cord connector a standard one? The pins seems to be rotated 90 degrees.
