Hyper-V VM won't boot from Cd, error: "unsigned image's hash is not allowed"

I went to install a Debian instance on Windows Hyper-V client in Windows 10. However, when I attempted to start the VM, it would not boot from the cd. Eventually the Hyper-V BIOS gave me a failure to start screen that listed boot devices and their status. The status of the SCSI-DVD device said: "The unsigned image's hash is not allowed (DB)".

Finding information about this error on the internet is proving to be difficult.

How I do to modify the contents of a ISO file?

I want to open a ISO file, add files and then burn it to a disc.

By example, I get the Windows98 SE boot disk. That ISO have 2.6mb, and if I burn the iso, I will lost the remainder 697mb of the disk!

To burn the ISO, I use CD Burner XP or ImgBurn, but I don't know which free tool I can use to add/remove files before burn.

Thank you very much!

Run Startup Disk Creator as Root

I am having issues with permissions while trying to create a startup disk using Startup Disk Creator. I was able to accomplish this task by using UNetBootin but the disk it creates is failing to boot. Is there a way to start Startup Disk Creator from terminal as root?

I've tried searching for it using by entering 'start' or 'startup' and entering tab tab but with no luck. I can however find it from search from the dash home. What am I missing here?

Thanks for any help.

How do I reset a bootable drive so that it no longer is bootable?

I made a bootable USB stick (Fedora) to install on a system. I'd like to reuse the stick, so I want to remove all traces of the functioning system; in particular I'm not sure how to reset the MBR so that, when treated as a disk, the stick does not look bootable.

My ultimate goal is to have a blank, non-bootable, NTFS (re-)formatted USB stick.

How to "burn" ISO/img/cue+bin to USB drive?

I don't get it. Why is it so complicated to create a bootable usb from a disc image?

Disc images have boot sectors, so why can't you just write the raw LBA values from an image directly to a USB and be done?

I haven't see any tool for Windows that lets me do this.

Making bootable USB flash drive with dd

I'm trying to make my 32GB flash drive bootable with archlinux. Beginning from release 2010.05, all ISO files can be directly written to USB media. So, what I've did:

dd if=archlinux.iso of=/dev/sdc

Copying has succesfully finished, but I still can't boot from my flash drive.

Are there any additional things, that I should to do? Or, maybe, some flash drive is not able to be bootable? Or what I've missed?

How do I burn an ISO on a USB drive on Mac OS X?

what's the best way to get an ISO "burned" to a USB stick on a Mac? Restoring using Disk Utility does not work.

The ISO is ubuntu mini.iso. It is the minimalist install ISO for installing ubuntu. It needs to be bootable on a PC. I am trying to install ubuntu on a PC that has no CD-ROM. The only other computer I have around is a macbook.

How to create a bootable USB from a bootable ISO with the command line on Linux?

I have a CD that's created from an ISO file which I use to install a custom version of Ubuntu via plop linux.

The cd works fine but I'd like to use a bootable USB drive instead. I used the command dd to try and create the bootable USB:

dd if=filename.iso of=/dev/sdb1 bs=4k

Now this does copy the files and make the USB bootable but I get the error "Missing operating system"

Any ideas?

How do I boot my Samsung laptop from a CD/DVD?

I have a Samsung Series 3 laptop and want to boot from an Ubuntu Live CD. When I press F10 to pull up the BIOS/boot configuration, I don't get an option to boot from the CD. Similarly, in the BIOS, I can see that the optical drive is present, but under Boot Options I can only select the hard drive as a boot device.

How do I make a bootable USB flash drive that can run memtest?

It seems that the canonical instructions for making a bootable USB flash drive that runs memtest are at:

However, after following them to a T, I boot up the new machine and get:

"could not find kernel image: linux"

Do I need to set up a lilo.conf first?
