Is it possible/feasible to use ObjC (not necessary the Apple flavor) to develop server-side web applications? Is GNU ObjC toolchain at all usable? Please share your thoughts and experiences.
Upd. I'd like to hear more answers with concrete practical experience, like "i tried/use .... and it is great/sucks, because...". 300 bounty!
Upd2. The rationale behind my question is that I'm about to develop an iOS app with a large web-based backend and thought it would be nice to use the same toolchain/IDE for both parts. But, alas, the answers so far show that this is not going to be feasible. Thanks everybody for taking time.

I'm trying to create a certificate for Production iOS Push Services.
Instead I get an Apple Push Services.
How can I create a dedicated Apple Production iOS Push Services certificate?
The top certificate is what I used to get. The bottom one is what I now get.
I use Pusher application to test my push notifications certificate and it cannot read the p12 of the new Apple Push Services.

Good day!
Is there any way to upload a quick-fix for my application, approved by Apple some days ago? Or should I wait for another 2 weeks for re-review again? :)

While playing around, I found the round() function in swift. It can be used as below:
round(0.8)
Which will return 1, as expected. Here's my question:
how do I round by thousandths in swift?
I want to be able to plug in a number, say 0.6849, and get 0.685 back. How does round() do this? Or, does it not, in which case, what function does?

I have an iPhone Web App. I'm interested in detecting if the app was loaded either from:
1. iPhone Safari
2. iPhone installed web app (via the add to my homescreen) which loads without the safari bars.
Any ideas?

I want to create a tool for codesigning iOS apps on a linux server remotely.
I know codesign is oss but relies heavily on the keychain and is not as portable.
I know Adobe has a codesign utility for win and mac within flash that takes the provisioning profile, .p12, and .cer and signs the app.
UDK also does something similar but doesnt seem to need the .p12
( http://udn.epicgames.com/Three/AppleiOSProvisioning.html )
So my question is really, what is the process they are doing so i can recreate a tool that is cross platform that can do it.

I'm reading the iTunes Connect Developer Guide as I'm trying to add a new application to my iTunes Connect.
I'm a bit confused about the SKU number
which I should provide. On page 81 in the above developer guide, they provide an example of their data for their application Orange Ball.
They have chosen Orange_Ball_01
for the SKU Number. What is the 01
indicating -- that it is version 1? Why use underscore? Why not just type "OrangeBall", if that SKU is not used?

As the ShouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation
is deprecated in iOS 6 and I used that to force a particular view to portrait only, what is the correct way to do this in iOS 6? This is only for one area of my app, all other views can rotate.
Thank you.

since an update to 10.8 I get the following error, when trying to do a sudo command, which is pretty annoying.
dyld: DYLD_ environment variables being ignored because main executable (/usr/bin/sudo) is setuid or setgid
What does that have to mean? I hope anyone can help.

I am new to iOS and was wondering which is the best to learn. I have read some of the answers here and SO, but some people say use Storyboards will others say learn XIBs first. Is there any real benefit to learning XIBs? Are XIBs easier to understand and will help with storyboards?

I have a question that is not exactly code-related. However, I thought that I would ask it here because many developers seem to have some experience with this issue.
Recently Apple updated its Sales and Trends module to a different interface. I used to be able to check to see how many updates I had for an app each day by clicking on an "updates" tab.
However, in this new module, I cannot seem to find this feature! I really need to have access to something like this and I was hoping to be able to continue to depend on Apple's website to find this information.

i am trying to design an HTML e-mail that should also look good when it is read on mobile devices. My biggest problems are with the iPhone (iOS 4): its mostly undocumented "auto linking" feature really bugs me.
Autolinking seems to appear on
- phone numbers (this is the only documented feature, as explained here)
- addresses
- dates
Is there any documentation out there on how to
- disable auto linking for dates and addresses
- "correct" the autolinking via microformats or something similar (so the results are better than they actually are with iOS 4)
Any information, hints, or clues are really appreciated because there does not seem to be any information out there whatsoever.

I'm using the following code to get touch icons for mobile devices - it's based on the html5boilerplate/mobile example:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0;">
<!-- For iPhone 4 with high-resolution Retina display: -->
<link rel="apple-touch-icon-precomposed" sizes="114x114" rel='nofollow' href="/img/touch/h/apple-touch-icon.png">
<!-- For non-Retina iPhone, iPod Touch, and Android 2.1+ devices: -->
<link rel="apple-touch-icon-precomposed" rel='nofollow' href="/img/touch/l/apple-touch-icon.png">
<!-- For nokia devices: -->
<link rel="shortcut icon" rel='nofollow' href="/img/touch/apple-touch-icon.png">
<meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-capable" content="yes">
<meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-status-bar-style" content="black">
But for some reason, the iPhone is still giving me problems for the home screen icon. All I get is that annoying screenshot icon.
I've included the other meta tags here in case they shed some light on why it isn't working. I've tried reordering the tags.
Can anyone think of anything that might stop the icons being used?
I've used html5boilerplate/mobile as a test case - I'm able to browse to their site and add the icon to the home screen on my iPhone (4S iOS5). I've tried copying their code, folder structure, and icons into my own site, but this didn't work.
Any ideas?
