The Adobe CS5.5 Master Collection contains both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Adobe Photoshop. Is there any reason why I might want to install both of them, or should I just install the 64-bit version?
This is on a variety of machines running Windows 7 SP1 x64. Some machines only have 2GB RAM, some have 4GB+.

How do I copy a group layer set from one file to another?
I.e.: If I have a layer group in one file and want it in another file, how can I copy the layer group to another open Photoshop file? Also, does your solution work fine for individual layers (inc, layer, styles, masks, etc., etc.)?

I'm working with lots of Photoshop animations provided to me by a designer. Each one is made of six frames, and I need to export each frame so that they have the titles (say): left*.png, where * is 0-5 depending on the frame.
Does anyone know if there's a quick way of doing this? So far I've been doing it by hand, but this is obviously far from ideal considering I have many animations to get through!

Can I use Photoshop to detect or find out with 100% certainty if an image is altered or not?
When an image is doctored or manipulated, is there metadata embedded in the altered image so that one can know it is a manipulated image? Or is there some other tool or method that can assist?
I was reading some news about fake UFO photos and this question came to my mind.

Is there a plugin that can let Photoshop use a HSL color picker, rather than HSV (which Adobe calls HSB)?
In other words, any/all of the following locations could have an HSL option:
Or perhaps a plugin with it's own color picker.

RGB HSL HSV (aka HSB)

There is a horizontal ruler guide set somewhere in the middle of an existing Photoshop CS5 document. How to get its exact position (number of pixels from the top) so I can create another guide 100px away from it?

How do I move a selection to a specific XY position within the canvas in Photoshop?
Currently, the only way I can find is to just eyeball it with the guides and/or mouse position. I want to specify the exact X and Y coordinates.

This is my first question here and I'm not sure if this is the appropriate site for my question, but here it goes. If this is not the correct site, please direct me to the correct one.
I have a psd file. I simply want to extract the layers from it into separate image files. I do not have Photoshop and I've already used up the free Photoshop trial.
I am running Mountain Lion on a MacBook Pro. I have installed Gimp, but I can't figure out how to do what I want. I have searched using Google, but have been completely unable to find a tutorial showing me how to do this.
I would really appreciate instructions or a link to an appropriate tutorial. I have seen some answers here, but they simply say use Gimp, which doesn't help me.

In Photoshop, I've put together some panorama photos using the Photomerge tool and the resulting image contains a lot of transparent pixels. Also, because it's put together of multiple photos the alignment can be off. What I'd like to do is cut the image down to the largest box which contains no transparent pixels at all. It's similar to the Trim tool, but this would remove a number of non-transparent pixels. Is there anything like this?
Basically something which would automatically crop the above image to the selection box there: a rectangle with no transparent pixels.

I have a largish PSD file with a couple of hundred layers, that I would like to extract selected areas from into PNG files.
Areas can consist of a couple of layers.
Being new to Photoshop, I have been using the following workaround. Duplicate needed layers into a new scratch PSD file of same size, TRIM to transparency, Save As PNG, undo TRIM, hide layers, rinse and repeat...
I suppose I could do it without the scratch file and just crop selection, Save As PNG and undo, but there must be a nicer method.
What other ways are there to accomplish this export of a selected area to PNG?
EDIT: This is on Windows Xp running Photoshop CS3 Extended

I need a map of the SMC campus, but I'm really sick of running out of ink after printing one thing and then having to pay ridiculous sums of money to buy more ink.
The map is here:
I would print in black and white, but I'm wondering if there are any chrome or photoshop extensions, or even websites that transform the image into something more ink-conservative.
For example, I don't need the buildings to be a solid color, or the roads to be gray, so it would be a tremendous waste of ink to print it as is.
Anyone know anything like I'm talking about?

When I run Photoshop CS4 on Windows 7, other running programs don't receive the ESC key (I noticed in PuTTY and Total Commander's Lister). When I close Photoshop, they start receiving the ESC key again.
- I tried multiple keyboard layouts, no change.
- Photoshop is an out-of-box install, no settings changed
- I exported the list of keybindings from Photoshop (ctrl-alt-shift-k) and ESC isn't used in any combination
Why is this? Is there any way to disable or bypass this so that I could use other programs normally?
