How to create incremental numbers in InDesign or Illustrator?

I have an A3 layout with several tickets to be printed, each with an consecutive number. Is there a way to do it automatically instead of writing it by hand?

Copy and paste plain text only in OSX?

My problem: I copy something from a webpage or Illustrator, then paste it into an email or another Illustrator document and the styles are carried over from the original doc when I just want the text to conform to the format of the new document.

Is there a way to force OSX to copy and paste to only read the the plaintext of my selection?

I see a few utilities out there for Windows, but none for OSX.

I deleted Adobe Illustrator, and now Application Manager won't reinstall it

I've had problems with Adobe Illustrator ever since downloading CS6 under the Creative Cloud program. My installation would quit on launch and ask me to license my software, thank me for signing in with a valid license, and loop like that. Yesterday, they hit a breaking point: I couldn't get into the program at all.

So this morning after reading over the forums I saw that an accepted solution was to delete and reinstall the program. I tried it.

Now Illustrator is gone, and yet Application Manager thinks its still there. It won't download a fresh copy. Anybody know a way to get past that?

Adobe Illustrator : export PNG of specific resolution

The title says it.

When I try to export a png I get the following dialog, where I can choose the PPI, but not the resolution.

enter image description here

Playing with the PPI around to get the right size could probably work, but it's annoying. There must be a better way, since resolution independence is the entire point of vector graphics.

How do I exclude invisible layers from SVG code?

In Illustrator, when I save a file as an SVG, the code includes everything on the artboard, even layers that are not visible. How do I save SVGs which ONLY include visible layers?

How to overlay text on Adobe Acrobat pdf file?

I have an Adobe Acrobat PDF file on Macintosh OS X Lion that I need to overlay some plain text on top of at a particular position relative to the original PDF. Previously I have created a Microsoft Word document that contains the positioned text and printed the page twice, once for the original PDF and a second time for the Microsoft Word document to get the overlay. This is rather cumbersome and there is some slop sending the paper through the printer two times such that the text is not exactly aligned between the two print outs.

Instead I would like to create a new PDF (or perhaps some other format file) that combines the original PDF together with the positioned text I want to overlay such as in a Microsoft Word document. The overlay should be transparent and not obscure anything from the original PDF, just like the effect of my manual double printing on the same sheet of paper.

I have access to Adobe Acrobat Pro X as well as other Adobe tools such as illustrator and wonder if one of these tools or another Adobe tool provides the needed ability or must I go outside the Adobe family of tools to accomplish this?

How to vector a logo?

I'm trying to convert the logo I've built in photoshop to a vector so I can resize it to fit different app and mobile screens.

I've tried the live trace in illustrator function but that just distorts the image and makes it black and white which makes it different to the original version, albeit with no pixels.

Does anyone know how to vector a logo?

I want to vector it so it's exactly the same as the original just without pixels so I can resize it without the image going blurry.

Thanks,

Converting very old version of Illustrator

I have a very large group of ai files that I want to convert to jpg, the problem is that the program that I'm using to convert doesn't recognize the ai files because they're old.

the files start with this:

%!PS-Adobe-3.0
%%Creator: Adobe Illustrator(R) 6.0
%%AI8_CreatorVersion: 8.0.1
%%For: (a) (@home)
%%Title: (a.ai)
%%CreationDate: (16-04-2000) (14:44)

So, is there a tool that converts them to a new version of illustrator, and then I use the program to convert them to jpg.

Is there a way to make handles bigger in Illustrator?

Whilst using the pen-tool in Adobe Illustrator, it is quite difficult to "grab" the path handles. They are soooo very tiny! Inkscape's handles are about twice that size.

Is there any way to get the handles bigger? I can't find any option, and the oracle (google) doesn't report that there is any solution. Maybe it can be done via script or addon? Or maybe there is some hidden settings that I don't know about?

Anyone with a solution?

Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator file preview in Windows Explorer

I'm a designer who deals with a lot of psd and ai files and it's very time consuming to sort through multiple files.

I was wondering if it were possible to use Windows Explorer's file preview feature to view my files before opening them.

Thanks

Original file turns modified after "Save for Web..." in Photoshop

What happens to the edited file after saving its copy using the "Save for Web…" command? Why the original, unmodified file turns into "changed" (with "*" symbol after its name)?

P. S. The same behaviour is in the Adobe Illustrator.

Is there any quality loss when using a place command in Photoshop

I am using “Place” command in Photoshop to import .ai file. Is there any quality loss after using this steps:

  • Save file in Illustrator at some default size—i.e 400x400px—using .ai extension or any other vector image format,

  • Import file in Photoshop using “Place” command.

  • Resize file to 800x800px.

  • Confirm the “Place” command.

Or it would be better approach to create an art of size 800x800 directly in Adobe Illustrator, and then place it in Photoshop without resizing?

I know that quality suffer when resizing bitmap, but is this happen before we apply “Place” command as well?

How do I make an Illustrator file "higher resolution"?

I was given an illustrator file, but all the curves on the artwork are jagged. I've tried "rasterizing" and exporting by increasing the size of the image. I don't know what else to do or what I'm doing wrong.

My understanding is the beauty of Illustrator is that it's all done mathematically, so I can scale it up to infinity and it will be perfect (more or less). And that lines are drawn that way also, so they should be (or can be) infinitely smooth if they want to be.

Here's what I have right now:

sample

Here's what I have with the image selected showing the plot lines:

And a zoomed in view:

*I'm not experienced in Illustrator at all; I only know whatever I can carry over from moderate Photoshop experience.
