Does uBlock Origin make Ghostery redundant?

I have uBlock Origin installed in my browser, as well as AdBlock.

Does having uBlock Origin mean there is no point to running Ghostery? Will Ghostery find and suppress any scripts that uBlock Origin does not already detect?

(I am using Google Chrome, but I would also be interested if the answer is any different for Firefox.)

How to prevent my ISP from putting every website in a frame?

My ISP has a bad habit of putting every page I visit into an iframe so they can overlay it with their commercials etc.. (I'm guessing they are using a transparent proxy to do it)

Is there an add-on that can remove the frames or block the attempt to do so?

Something like AdBlock does not work in this case.

Can a site detect if I use AdBlock in Firefox?

I recently visited (an official) website in search for an episode of a TV-show. The site popped an information dialog stating that I had to disable AdBlock to see the content. Is this at all possible or is it just an educated guess? Does Firefox advertise what addons I have installed? If so: how and why does it work that way?

How can I block ads in Internet Explorer?

I am looking for an ad blocker which works both in Internet Explorer 9 and all later versions. What options do I have?

I would prefer a solution that works without installing any 3rd party DLLs (something similar to Adblock for Chrome).

Setting up ad blocking on the router?

Is it possible to block or remove ads (graphical as well as textual like Google text ads) on the level of the router? I have a Cisco Linksys WRT54GL with Tomato Firmware v1.28.1816.

Basically I want a functionality as implemented by the AdBlock Lite add-on for Firefox, or Privoxy, but not on the level of the browser or individual computer, but on the level of the router.

The motivation is, there are several devices (laptops, PS3, PSP...) connected via one router to the internet. And I want one point to block the ads.

Use AdBlock without being detected

Upon visiting a site today I was rewarded with Comic Sans.

Behold it's glory:

Needless to say I can finally understand why so many people loathe this font.

However, this does bring up a question.

Will websites ever become smart enough to simply stop displaying content to AdBlock users altogether? If so, then what can be done about it?

I understand that this is probably just some small JS checker embedded in the HTML so AdBlock cannot block the detection of it's own anti-ad antics but I found this "reward" to be quite funny.

Adblock Plus - disabled by default and enable per site

I have Adblock Plus disabled by default at the moment, and I would like to block ads on some sites. Is this possible with Adblock, or do I need another addon?

How can I block social share buttons in webpages [duplicate]

Possible Duplicate:
How to block annoying facebook and other social network widgets

A great many pages have these "Like", "Tweet", "G+1", "share" row of buttons all over the place and in each post in threads.

I do not use any of these services, am not interested, and find it distracting. I want to treat these elements the same as unsolicited web advertisements or Google text ads, i.e. remove them.

Is there a way to do this?

I am using firefox 14.0.1. and AdBlock Lite.

Extension that blocks ads on Google Chrome [closed]

I'd like to be able to block ads from showing while I browse the Internet on Google Chrome. I've looked, but I'm always nervous about installing add-ons.

Is there an extension that does this?

Firefox users: Is it redundant to have AdBlock and Flashblock installed alongside noscript?

I have them all running and FF seems to be working fine (for about a month now). Apologies in advance if this is a dumb question.

Your thoughts?

Can you set uBlock to allow Piwik tracking on all sites?

I'd like to reward site owners that use Piwik instead of Google Analytics by allowing Piwik tracking scripts globally. Is there any way to do this with the uBlock extension? So far I only found instructions for allowing/denying based on host.

Does Adblock slow down Firefox?

You might have heard of the Adblock extension that has a massive list of URL filters to block out adverts from most websites. Does this slow down Firefox, considering that for every little image and flash it has to consult that massive URL whitelist?

Adblock Plus doesn't block Google ads. How to enable?

Recently I've noticed that Adblock Plus doesn't block Google ads anymore. The page is just full of ads. Here's a query for "SSL" with Adblock Plus turned on.

I would like to not see Google ads in my browser. How do I get the previous behavior back?

How to configure Chrome AdBlock to update every day?

I need to update AdBlock lists every day. Is there a way to configure this to be done automatically instead of going to the AdBlock Options page and pressing "update now" by hand every time?

How to block ads/pop-ups that gray out screen and show advertisment? [duplicate]

This question already has an answer here:

I've seen quite a few webpages that use obtrusive advertising techniques such as this:

enter image description here

How can the signup form be blocked? I found using Adblock plus the form can be blocked, then the grayed out background can be blocked, but then the scroll bar on the side is no longer there.

It's like Adblock plus just stopped working. Here's another site that has ads that aren't being blocked http://walrusmagazine.com/articles/2010.09-environment-a-10-percent-world

Here's another example (takes some time for ad to load) http://www.howtogeek.com/121267/11-ways-to-make-your-lastpass-account-even-more-secure/ enter image description here

Yet another example of ads that aren't being blocked.
